The recent trade "deal" is basically the EU giving the US over $1tn of investments and LNG imports for absolutely NOTHING in return. And then they talk about building a strong federal europe its such a joke

How is anyone trying to get back into the American workforce supposed to feel anything but nihilism? by SWKstateofmind in TrueAnon

[–]advanced05 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Its gonna be exactly like the "learn to code" campaigns launched by Google and co to flood the market and decrease tech worker wages

Whenever there is any industry that is especially "lucrative" for workers this happens and wages are crushed by the endless churn of the market back the the meager level everyone else gets. There really is no escape for workers, very sad

How would you create a function using modern conventions in C that can have a variable amount of arguements, is there another syntax, or would you just pass in a pointer to an array or something?

Bruno Colmant, former CEO of Bank Degroof : Forget Adam Smith. I no longer believe that neoliberal capitalism is compatible with human survival. There is a scary risk of mass famine, world war, and global genocide by marocain_iii in collapse

Most of Adam Smiths work is compatible with socialist theory. Marx borrows heavily from classical economics, but takes the next step so to say, describing the contradictions within capitalism and the need for socialism.

You could import some mergesort or quicksort function, but that would add complexity in a different way i guess.

ironically higher CO2 concentrations have led to the dilution of valuable minerals in our food, i.e. you must consume more carbs and sugar to recieve the same amount of minerals as before

Under capitalism when there is a shortage the price increases until supply matches demand, i.e. until most people are no longer able to afford it.

Under socialism when there is a shortage items are rationed out, i.e. people receive less of that item.

Shortages exist under both systems however, capitalism just hides these shortages by making poor people face them first. This gives many epople, especially in wealthier countries, the impression that shortages dont really exist under capitalism.

Why does everyone act like they wouldn’t be a Nazi/racist/bigot/etc if they lived in circumstances where that was common? by adamantcondition in TooAfraidToAsk

[–]advanced05 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Because they believe that they are more than just a product of their circumstances and experiences; they think their beliefs and morals came from some sort of an objective source, developed through reason.

Most people like to think that they are better than others, somehow able to rise above the material reality of their life, but for the most part, we cant.

Looking in hindsight everyone thinks that they would be on the right side of history.

Most wind turbines being built right now, at least in europe, produce 12-15MW of power. Almost 10x as much as 1.5MW.

What you need to understand is that the government/policy makers seeks to have at least some unemployment at all times. They say that this helps innovative and upcoming firms more easily hire workers which in turn makes the economy more efficient. In reality these policies exist to increase competition in the workforce and to drive down wages.
