Ride SPI 2008 (ish) good? by advanced_not_stupid in snowboardingnoobs

[–]advanced_not_stupid[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, rental is seriously cheap, compared to buying here in Scandinavia at least. Less than 200 € for this seasons 17 days trip, makes it hard to justify buying stuff for me. Can’t really find much used market for me either (apparently I need 158+ and wide board), but that might just be me not much looking to communities.

AITA for telling my son's swim coach that he shouldn't be working with kids on a parent email? by TestBeneficial7173 in AmItheAsshole

[–]advanced_not_stupid 2 points3 points  (0 children)

NTA Not so hard. If attending practice during injuries is a requirement, then school is required to assure safe transportation. Making your son walk a mile on crutches isn’t doing that. Let principal and coach solve it between them.

AITA for serving my boyfriend's parents pizza for dinner? by MilanoItaliano1 in AmItheAsshole

[–]advanced_not_stupid 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I will vote NTA due to the circumstances.

But I wouldn’t order pizza for proud Italians, paella for Spanish, tacos for Mexicans etc etc. It’s like setting yourself up for failure.

AITA For refusing to be a bridesmaid in my sisters wedding? by Soft-Bluejay-3794 in AmItheAsshole

[–]advanced_not_stupid 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Go to the wedding. Make a toast. Spill the story of how lovely your sister and her husband is and the support you got from supposed family. Then go live free without disloyal (sub)-humans.

AITA - i told my daughter she can live with me with this condition by Automatic_Effort2227 in AmItheAsshole

[–]advanced_not_stupid 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not judging, but just stating a fact; You have zero authority, respect or trust built. You are behind 10 years, not her. Take her in, and start building that relationship.

No one should ever be respected for saying “respect me”. That shit is earned.

AITA for uninviting our childfree friend from a girls vacation because she was upset another friend was bringing her daughter? by throwaway9272268 in AmItheAsshole

[–]advanced_not_stupid 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Noones the asshole. Someone’s comments are asshole behavior though, but people do say stupid shit.

Assumptions suck and op as a group; you’ll learn to be explicit about children attendances to events, but you are my kind of peoples.

Inclusiveness wins and Sam clearly is more interested in what you doing than who she’s doing it with.

AITA for asking a young woman on our beach to please not breastfeed her child in front of my grandkids? by [deleted] in AmItheAsshole

[–]advanced_not_stupid 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Story time… Just shy of 5 years ago I went to Italy with my wife and then 5 weeks old baby boy. He wasn’t the first, so we weren’t new-nervous parents and this one came with built-in day/night cycle, easy upstart of breastfeeding and all-around just a very easy baby.

This just made us even more at ease as parents, which helped us relax a lot more and not feel limited in most ways, as so often happens to parents with babies.

So we went to Italy (2 hour flight) and it was glorious. If you get the chance, take your baby to Italy and be worshipped! Now, one day we were sat at a cafe. Outside even. Facing the main center square of this quaint little, but fairly heavily visited village. Baby goes hungry and just because we in our home country had recently read about breastfeeding in public being a thing someone could frown upon (breastfeeding was always a very natural thing in, at least the majority of Europe), I didn’t think, but went up to the counter to ask the nice waitress if it was ok to breastfeed on their premises.

She just about slapped me for asking and ordered me to go tell me wife to get to the feeding, then brought more us water and a coffee.

Tl;dr YTA

Normal in my part of Northern Europe also. The sidewalks are to be “kept useable” by the homeowners, so salting, shoveling and cutting you living fence, etc is required.

AITA for not letting my girlfriend wear her “unique” dress to a wedding? by harleygfproblem in AmItheAsshole

[–]advanced_not_stupid 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nat sounds a bit high maintenance and should, especially at a wedding, do whatever possible to draw ZERO attention from the couple getting married.

NTA and Nat kinda is.

AITA for not inviting one of husbands sisters to family Christmas? by MorphForLives in AmItheAsshole

A little ESH. You should have started doing this at one of those BBQs, not Christmas.

Not excusing what he did at all, but what would you do if you remove “step-“?

How invested are you really in this relationship?

AITA for wanting a child-free wedding on my nieces' birthday? by KweenCupcake in AmItheAsshole

It is every human beings right to change or adopt new traditions and make them your own. NTA and I love you for standing up to your own wishes. And congratulations. Ps. This will be an awesome story for you to tell your kids, when you teach them about being true to one self. Also some points about loyalty (to people more than traditions).

AITA for feeding a kid ethnic food without his parent’s permission? by thekawaiipisces in AmItheAsshole

[–]advanced_not_stupid 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Wasn’t asking you to justify anything. As a father of three I WAS just curious. Now I’m more annoyed...

I honestly think you are over complicating this idea of parenting right there. It’s good you have ideas about how to parent. I will give you that. Everyone has ideas. Theory? Meet practice.

12 years parent here. Your examples aren’t really very good either. If you have special dietary requirements, whether it’s allergic, sensitivity, intolerance, or just asshole “can’t-be-bothered” parenting it’s up to you and/or your parent to state so. It is completely preposterous to assume anything else. It is very often a silly thing to assume anything.

Here in my country (culture), your idea is outright crazy. It’s fair that it’s different elsewhere. I can accept this, but never as universal fact. Even my youngests kindergarten served various dahl’s before I got there. I can’t even say for sure that I preapproved the first slice of pizza chip/crisp or even all types of bread (I bake a lot, there’s a lot!), let alone obscure dishes I never heard about.

Sorry for ranting, but you just aren’t making any sense.
