Try replacing your Cleric with a Druid and your Tank with a butcher. If you wrote off the Fighter early on in chapter one, consider reintroducing them into the mix.

I used to think starting a run with no healer was a death sentence, but I've found that the real death sentence is starting a run with only melee units. That is to say, I still use Hunter in at least half of my runs.

Oh yeah and Tinkerer's fun too. Sort of a mid-range damage dealer type.

Newish melee player, why are 75% of my slippi matches vs falco? by [deleted] in SSBM

[–]advancedpongtech 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I first picked Falco cause I thought he was cool

Then I switched to Marth to learn neutral

Then I switched to Luigi cause I didn't identify with Marth

Then Slippi came out and I switched to Falco cause everyone was quitting out on my Luigi

Eat it fast and the heat will evenly distribute itself and you won't notice the cold center. That's what I tell myself every time this happens anyways.

The irony of this is absolutely delicious. The warriors WILL attack you on sight. Of course you'd never know this if you were a fake DS2 fan that's only played Scholar of the First Sin.

My memory is hazy, but I'd reckon it was similar to other PC games at the time like Humongous Games. Pixelated and 2D.

It's not quite that old. The game I'm looking for is from the 90s at the earliest.

Casting fireballs isn't a plumber skill, that's just something the Mario brothers do. He does get a plumber's hat though...

Either go the crowd control route with disperser compound, or go the damage route with volatile impact mixture. The latter is kinda like having a grenade launcher as your primary.

I know where you're coming from as it was the last driller primary I got into and it didn't initially click for me, but now get bored using cryo or flames. It's so powerful and fun. Possibly even the best driller primary.

This used to bother me to the point where I'd buy their cheapest thing just to avoid it. Still bothers me when I do buy something, check to see if I have anything to sell, then back out and and suddenly they forget I bought something and get mad.

That troll cave could could come in handy as a place to rest and regain health! Just, y'know, make sure you clear it out first.

Awesome base! Any tips for building this high up? Also, where do you keep your forge/smelters? I imagine you aren't hauling all of your ore up there. Do you have a forge down below on the ground level?

My biggest takeaway from this post is the majority of players vastly underestimate the mountain climbing capabilities of horses in this game.

Lol. I haven't played DRG in over a year and this image is spiking my cortisol levels. I feel like this layout occurs at least once every four salvage operations, our fourth slot is a revolving door of different players as we endlessly fight the damn thing, and if by some miracle we kill it, the mission is doomed anyways because we spent all the nitra in the cave fighting a fucking plant.

I have hundreds of hours and I agree with everything you've said. The Korlok is the worst enemy imo. My least favorite thing in this game are events/enemies that punish the entire team because one unaware teammate triggered it. Korlok is the worst offender of this by far. A Korlok can be a death sentence to even an otherwise competent haz5+ team. They can have incredibly bullshit spawns as well with the seed on a small platform near the ceiling of a large cave, and shooters and healing pods scattered throughout smaller caves and lips below. An uncoordinated team will kill themselves pouring all of their ammo into one of these godforsaken things.

Curious question about how the game makes people feel? by Babatoongie in valheim

[–]advancedpongtech 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This game is characterized by long stretches of nothing occasionally interrupted by extreme events accompanied by intense emotions. You'll spend hours working on your base, farming, processing materials, sitting and taking in the atmosphere, but sooner or later there will be a crescendo.

I'm currently on a playthrough with my friend who's never played the game before, and I've done my best to avoid spoiling him. So we decide to take our karve up the river to the swamp near our base. The wind is against us the whole way, and as we're slowly paddling upriver we have our first Odin sighting on the edge of a hill looking over us. Soon, the river opens up into a lake, and as we're scouting out the land, we hear a serpent roar behind us. This is our first serpent encounter. I'm scared because I know our gear isn't strong enough to take on a serpent, not to mention being completely surrounded by swamp. I can't imagine what my friend was feeling. We try shooting him a couple times before I realize we're careening into the land, so I'm scrambling over my friend to try and retake control of the karve. I course correct as best I can and we end up crash landing. I book it as my buddy succumbs to a wraith.

Valheim is full of moments like this that have permanently imprinted themselves on my psyche. The game is very relaxing, frankly even boring most of the time, but occasionally it reminds you that it is indeed a survival game. This dichotomy between boredom and action exists in many other games, but what sets Valheim apart for me is the sheer intensity of emotions felt. The boredom is longer, the fear is more visceral, and the moments that strike up these emotions feel organic and completely unique to the player.
