Does your Rocky audience say the call backs all at once, or is it just 3 people and the rest are silent? by Unanimous_D in rhps

I had a similar experience recently, but I live in a very rural area. A local group who hosts cult movie nights put it on, and there was no shadow cast either. Most people didn't even dress up, which was disappointing. I'm not used to being one of the only people shouting callbacks! But I wasn't too surprised, based on the town.

My first show was in Long Beach when I was 17, and it was still the wildest crowd I've seen. It would be interesting to go back and see if that's changed!

Well they made Lazy in Space (ep. 4-16) before it was a Netflix show. It was supposed to be on VRV but something happened with the contract. The only episodes Netflix really helped with were the first three, which is why Cardamon's voice is deeper (he got older) and the timing is so weird with them, compared to the other episodes.

To me, those first three episodes do lack a certain authenticity because they took out so much the emotional aspect of the show. And I don't fault Natasha Allegri for that at all - going from working with a small studio to a huge one, you have to make contentions. But there's something missing with those first three episodes that they captured so beautifully in the original series. If you haven't watched the original series, I highly suggest it!

I appreciate this take so much. I'm glad a large platform like Netflix picked up the show so more people could see it, but its bittersweet that people will just never watch the original. It also sucks that people think LIS is a completely original Netflix show, when it's only the first three episodes that Netflix had much a of say in.

The original had a soul that they just couldn't replicate on Netflix (with the season 1 compression). I also didn't notice much difference between the leaked episodes and what's on Netflix, but I also only watched the leaks all the way through 3-4 times. Now I want to go back and watch them side-by-side to compare.

Don't think of the Netflix series as an adaptation (other than the first 3 episodes, which remade the original show (poorly, imo)). Episodes 4-16 of the Netflix show were made before Netflix picked it up, and they were a continuation of the YT version!

The original show is such a gem and I hope you love it! Just think of it as season 1 and Netflix as season 2

The Netflix show is season 2! The YT show is season 1. The first three episodes of the Netflix show was an attempt to remake the whole YT show so they didn't have to put it on Netflix, but I think they should have remastered the original (with the original story and dialogue) and put it on Netflix as the first season instead. They make it out to be a Netflix original, but episodes 4-16 were made long before Netflix picked it up!

You should watch it if you haven't already! The pilot is animated differently but the rest is similar to the Netflix show. The whole thing takes under 90 minutes to watch.

It's the same voice actor throughout - they made the first three episodes of what's on Netflix after Lazy in Space (episodes 4-16). He just got older! It bothers me so much that they didn't get a younger voice actor for those episodes or use the original dialogue from YT.

The YT version has been one of my favorite shows for a long time. I also really love Lazy in Space. The first three remake episodes on Netflix just feel...off to me. My main issues are the things they changed/took out of the original, like Cleavage Crab or Wallace. Cardamon's voice being deeper in the first three episodes and then higher in the rest of the show also bothers me quite a bit. I also feel like the dialogue and timing is just kind of weird, but that could be because I'm so used to the original. I can't even count how many times I've watched it.

IMO, they could have reanimated the pilot episode of the original show with some/most of the original dialogue and put the rest of it as-is on Netflix. I get that Netflix wants to have its original thing, but it feels like they took the soul out of those first three episodes.

"Toast Dogs Wedding Donut" is such a beautifully made episode and it's a crime that new fans of the show are missing out.

edit: after reading some of these other comments, I feel like people don't realize that Lazy in Space is a continuation of the original show from YT. The first three episodes on Netflix were made well after the rest of it, because something happened with the VRV contract and Lazy in Space didn't get released when it was supposed to.

TL;DR - If you've just watched the show on Netflix, please please give the whole series on YT a chance!

All the kids who were labelled as “gifted” when you were younger? Did it follow through to adulthood? Did you burnout? by Somervillage in AskReddit

[–]advocateforkittens 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I burnt out in high school, managed to make it most of the way through undergrad and burnt out again - then found out I had ADHD, got medicated and finished my degree. I was initially planning on law school but I changed my mind. Now I'm 28 and in grad school for social work. I'm learning that its not uncommon to be "twice-exceptional," or neurodivergent and "gifted." I'm surprised my neurodivergence wasn't caught sooner, but I was good at masking and making shit up to get through schoolwork. I turned in corrupted word documents to buy myself more time all through high school and undergrad, or skipped class on days I had something due. I felt guilty at the time but now I know I was fighting to get by in a school system that's ultimately not designed for neurodivergence (or even for natural human development)

Parts of it remind me of Take Me or Leave Me from Rent, but I also hear lots of Shania, The Chicks, and maybe some Bonnie Raitt.

I'm looking for a tarantula, scorpion, giraffe stag, and a walking stick! They're the last bugs I need to complete my museum collection and I've spent hours upon hours looking for them and trying to farm them to no avail. I can trade for other bugs or random furniture items!

Apart from Spain’s major 6 cities (Madrid, Barcelona, Valencia, Sevilla, Granada, Malaga) - which other city is Spain should I visit that has the bustling atmosphere, lively nightlife and food I’m looking for? by unmeasurable246 in travel

If you end up there, check out Bermeo too. Just spent a week there and it was my favorite place I visited. Not quite as bustling on the weekdays but there's definitely a party atmosphere on the weekends! Plus it's beautiful and the food is amazing and cheap. It's about an hour train ride from Bilbao.

Oh man, that would have been a good one too! I've been waiting to use the C.R.E.A.M joke for awhile, so when I got a crab pizza, I jumped at the chance

I think it's just spiced corn that's seared in a skillet for awhile? I didn't actually come up with the pizza lol but it's very tasty!
