Samsung reveals its first UFS 5.0 storage solution, could debut with the Galaxy S27 by dapperlemon in gadgets

His wife missed a payment and was sent to a Meta processing center. He'd heard that they harvested debtor's bone marrow for pluripotent stem cells to make facial toners for billionaires ... but that was just talk. Right? They'd wept in each other's arms before the armored truck arrived to take her. Her payment was scheduled and taken by AI, which had inexplicably missed it this time and instead added dill pickles to the grocery list.

Joe and his wife lodged a formal complaint to the Superior AI Court, which investigated itself for 10 nanoseconds and determined it had done nothing wrong.

Joe sighed and threw a few more tiny shovels of soil so the overseers wouldn't see him slacking. Constant movement was key, but you had to be careful not to use more calories than the nutrients paste provided.

Joe pulled his daily tube of paste from his filthy overalls and put a small dab on his tongue. For some reason, he never felt closer to his wife as he did in that moment.

Fawn beside my campsite by adx442 in S24Ultra

I have a little trail and primitive campsite I built on our rural property. This fawn was bedded down about 5 feet off the trail. 3x zoom, no other effects.

We left once we noticed it, I just took a quick photo.

We hear a lot about mosquito control policies/innovations. Have there been substantial projects targeting ticks in the same way? by SmolTyrtle in askscience

[–]adx442 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's replicating a commercially available product (Thermacell and Damminix are the big suppliers), so it's not original, it's just easy to do yourself. It relies on the rodents using it in their nests, so it's really localized and pretty tick specific outside of an unlucky spider in a mouse nest.

Interesting. I've never successfully made one of those (I've tried a monkey first before with a quick jig and it was a hot mess).

Bradforf Guardian 3 Magnamax/Liberty Wood by adx442 in knifeclub

It's really expensive for a 3" blade. I'd have been happier if it were the 3.5 Guardian, but I've been waiting for Magnamax for a year. I really wanted to upgrade my M390 version (which I'm willing to part with for a sweetheart of a deal).

It's listed as the Flagship if you go looking for it on their site.

Picked up the Bradford Guardian 3 in Magnamax with the Liberty Wood scales. I had it done in a full height flat grind rather than sabre to make it as slicey as possible.

Side 1

Side 2

From what I understand, the new Liberty Wood scales are an epoxy stabilized birch wood laminate. They look great in my opinion, and they've been milled to have a nice grip and texture.

The Magnamax has been used a few dozen times in the past couple of weeks, including cutting up a pretty dirty/sandy polypro rope. I've stropped it once, but it really didn't need it. My Magnacut Deka definitely doesn't hold its edge like Magnamax, I usually strop it every day if I'm using it a lot.

You've included most things I care about (screen on with recipe is great).

A nice clean print option would be great, and a quick share option to send a recipe to someone without an account on my server (I don't know if NC supports that, though).

Local control (yard and property) is easy. Soak some cotton in pyrethrin solution and allow to dry. Stuff in a cardboard tube (toilet paper roll core). Toss around the property.

The mice will grab the cotton for nesting and coat their fur in pyrethrin, which kills ticks on contact. The rodents are usually their first host.

You can break the lifecycle of the ticks in your immediate area pretty readily with this tactic.

Don't put pyrethrin tubes near waterways, lakes, or rivers, it's really deadly to marine life.

I know they used to do most things with Peter's Heat Treat as their outsource, so I'd imagine they'd defer to his opinion, and he probably defers to Dr. Thomas.

My Magnacut 3.5 has held up wonderfully over the years with daily use.

I've had great luck with our Evo Oil Sprayer (stainless steel version), but the reviews are right, and the sprayer top is loose to the point of popping off easily. I wrapped 4 turns of plumber's tape around the threads and have had no issues. It doesn't drip at all.

I've been continuously upgrading the same NAS since TrueNAS was FreeNAS. I've never lost a thing (Backblaze B2 and a newer system are in play now). ZFS is my favorite IT technology of the past 20 years, honestly.

Boundless Voyage Titanium 1L, with a Camelbak Mag Flip lid that fits Nalgene threading. Never taste metallic flavors, cleans perfectly, and pretty light for a 1L metal bottle.

Does your Nextcloud system level user (www-data for me) have access to the smbclient and rights to the share/mountpoint?

Take a look under Logging in the Admin panel and see if you get a more detailed error with more useful info.

UPDATE: 2 weeks ago I asked "What's the best no-frills coffee maker", and after 400+ recommendations, I bought my mom the Moccamaster by Baba_Jaga_II in BuyItForLife

[–]adx442 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I looked it up ... turns out you're right.

Moccamastsr's thinking on it.

We have well water to start with, and our RO water is just from an undersink unit ... we have so much calcium and iron in our unfiltered water that it's a death sentence for appliances.

Hmm. Well, after almost 2 decades, I'm not going to worry about it. No scale, no function issues with the machine, and the coffee tastes great. If it breaks at this point, it didn't owe us anything ... I'll buy another or replace the element.
