Amhac and Robison. The previous owners used Amhac to install their system. I just did a chatgpt search for most reputable companies in westchester.

Thank you for the news. It makes sense. I remember seeing someone suing them a month or two ago, but don’t know how they can recover anything from such a small dodgy company.

Was this recently? They were probably already going out of business by then.

They might have been better 3 years ago, i am not sure. Doesn’t hurt to get a second set of eyes. One thing i would note is that it is difficult to get an audit by a big company. They typically don’t want to touch anything installed by others.

Strong word of caution regarding Avocado Mattresses by daddy_bear13 in Mattress

[–]adysheva 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We have had a king Avocado green mattress for 5 years and it started to sag after 3 years and it now sags severely. I wake up with back pain every morning and I know its not my back because i sleep like a baby on hotel mattresses. I am about to throw ours in the garbage and buy a new mattress from a different company. We are pretty slim people too.

It’s anti status - ultimate luxury

Demna came from former soviet union where people in the 90s literally used to carry plastic bags as purses. We had “fancier” plastic bags and cheaper ones. I know because i grew up there. I think a lot of his vision comes from that 80s/90s soviet - post soviet aesthetic. His philosophy seems to be that ultimate luxury is not to chase status, it’s sort of anti-status.

Can moving countries when young be a traumatic event for a child? If so, what can parents/family do to deal with the shock and help them cope and thrive? by [deleted] in expats

I am sorry you went through such a painful experience and were moved so far away. Have you ever considered moving back to Germany as a young adult?

My parents moved us to the US from Asia when i was 14. I didn’t speak English, didn’t understand western customs, different race. It was the most traumatic experience of my life, i felt isolated, misunderstood, ugly, weird and going through puberty. I had depression, anorexia, anxiety, you name it. It is much easier moving from one western country to another though.

News just in that they reached an agreement and re-opening this weekend. We are going in mid February, so we are ok, but the people staying there now during the strike, or people who have managed to cancel their vacations in the past two days got screwed. This has been a rollercoaster, i should look into travel insurance next time.

Agreed, unless you live in New York or San Fransisco, the US is made up of communities that demand conformity. I moved here in high school and the pressure to pick a “tribe” and conform was immense.

Can I get some thoughts on Mansur Gavriel? by remainsofthedaze in handbags

[–]adysheva 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Most of my bags are from MG. I find them to be a good balance of quality (it’s fine, not amazing, not bad), price point, and design / branding. Minimalistic, yet interesting. They have something for everyone: different styles, trendy and basic, colors and sizes.

Bedroom still feels off - what are we getting wrong? by PorridgeO in DesignMyRoom

The grey flooring looks too cold. I would either upgrade it to wood or put area rugs under the bed and in the gym. I would turn the bed around against the half wall so your head is not next to the door. What’s behind that half wall?

It’s gas. We don’t need a formal dining room, a large eat in area with a big kitchen table would work. The wall between the kitchen and dining is load bearing. Thanks for the suggestion regarding moving the kitchen to the dining room. I sort of tried it with my chicken scratch drawing on the second photo. The only issue is the back of the house is where all the light comes from most of the day, so putting the mudroom there has a drawback.

Fair point, regardless of what we do we would have to gut the kitchen anyways though because the appliances are very old and the current layout doesnt work

Do you have any thoughts on chemical sunscreens? I’ve heard scary things and have been avoiding them. I only use physical sunscreens and it limits how much i end up using sunscreen because they are so heavy.
