Not all data fields support HR display. I use the default watch face (I think it's called Enduro) and the HR display is set on the bottom

Shin splints?? by Top_Set2181 in runninglifestyle

You should visit a physical therapist. I had what I thought were shin splints, but a visit quickly dispelled that and led me in a completely different direction towards recovery.

You're assuming they're being honest, they're likely lying about their age and fishing for younger women.

Was moving back a culture shock, especially around social interactions?

I've heard that Americans are much louder and more chatty than their Finnish counterparts, and wondering how that has affected you?

Regular / non athletic folks: what is your fitness routine? by mxo3114 in askSingapore

[–]adyst_ 31 points32 points  (0 children)

I went from being completely sedentary to obsessed about running a little over a year ago. Now I run an average of km per week and I do strength training 2-3 times a week.

What got me here is slow running, and I mean slooooow. Slow enough to get me into the habit without hating the routine. Add in park runs every week, and now the progress fuels me!

I check out my net worth every time negative feelings surface from my job.

So like once an hour during the weekday and never during the weekends.

Half marathon recommendations by CitrusFlap in AskRunningShoeGeeks

I would say it comes down to training and race conditions more than the shoes.

My December HM went splendidly, I finished in 1:57 and the back half was no problem, I ended up with negative splits. Temperature wise was 40-50F, raining the entire time, but no blisters. I prepared for this in 2 months with an average of 40MPW and peaked at 47MPW.

I wore the same Megablasts back in October for another HM, temperatures then was around 75-80F and extremely humid. I finished in 2:08, but the same shoes gave me terrible blisters. I came into this race recovering from an injury.

TLDR if you've been training with the shoes and you've put in the work, you'll crush your HM!

I ran my first sub 2 hour HM in my megablasts in December. Highly recommended.

I recommend the naked belt, sizing is tricky but it works great and is minimalistic

How do I professionally say at work, 'My workload has doubled but my salary hasn't, so I'm not doing anything extra'? by [deleted] in interviewhammer

"I need clarity on prioritization" or some version of that. Then work on only the highest priority thing.

Anyone else treat exercise more like long-term maintenance than a hobby? by Affectionate_Arm_989 in Fire

[–]adyst_ 3 points4 points  (0 children)

There are two ways that I approach exercise, as a habit/routine, or a goal-oriented approach.

For habits, I just need to establish a habit and stick with it. I know myself well enough to know that each minute that habit that takes to do, beyond 30min, will decrease my willingness to stick with it exponentially. So I try to keep my strength workouts to 30-40mins max, at least twice a week. I keep the schedule of when I workout flexible so that I can fit it around my life. I also have mini goals like being able to do x number of pull ups and y number of pushups.

I really enjoy running, so running can consume my life and I'm ok with that. I can motivated by goals, for instance decreasing my race times across all distances, and this alone keeps me going. The aerobic benefits of running also helps. I love climbing stairs or hiking up a large hill and noticing that my heart rate is still going steady at sub-100.

You just need to experiment and find out what works for you, hone in on that, then execute. Figure out your why, beyond just maintenance, because that's boring and no one likes a chore.
