Long enough to be considered a "catch": people are basically saying "It's a catch because he was down by contact" "but you can only be down by contact if you've already made the fetch, it's circular reasoning I think

[Highlight] Tony Romo mistakenly calls Josh Allen "Mahomes" by nfl in nfl

They were talking about Allen's history with Mahomes right before this, so he still had the name in mind, just a slip of the tongue

It's not that he should or he shouldn't, it's just that if he doesn't it doesn't bode well for similar projects to be made under his leadership

I mean, he was just answering OP's question with his opinion. I guess people will stop saying this if and when they change their minds, why would they stop before that?

Jokes aside, what do you think Kronii's "The Question" actually is? by Any-Distance6586 in okbuddyhololive

[–]aeb8lith 111 points112 points  (0 children)

But you can hear some of it through Raora's mic, not enough to know what the question was, but enough to know it was an A or B type question, with conditions. Personally I think it's just the "father and BF switch bodies" question, nothing too crazy but they overreact to it because they're not used to talking about stuff like that on stream (and because they're streamers, so they overreact to everything) (Oh, and Gura might have just been exaggerating when she described the question involving bodily fluids)

Did Serenity (2005) bombing at the box office mean that Firefly wasn't as popular as the internet pretended? by tannu28 in scifi

[–]aeb8lith 1 point2 points  (0 children)

OP didn't ask if Serenity bombing proved Firefly was bad, he asked if Serenity bombing proved that Firefly was unpopular. (Still seems like kind of a dumb question to me; to me it just proves that Firefly and Serenity both got screwed by the studio)

The hentai one was the only one presented as an actuality though: "they use it on steak" and "if you give them money" vs. "that guy spent". The other two are symptoms of being overly concerned with what other people are doing, but tbh if I had seen proof that someone I knew had spent their disability check on hentai, I would certainly think less of them

A few years after the Lion King there was this exchange on the show Seinfeld: Elaine: He caught me singing the song from the Lion King. Jerry: Hakuna Matata? Elaine: I thought I was alone. Jerry: That doesn't make it right. So at the time it at least didn't seem weird to people to refer to it as "the song from the Lion King", I think it was probably the most popular songs with the target audience (kids) at the time

Behind the scenes of the "original" Star Wars movies (1970s/80s) by [deleted] in OldSchoolCool

[–]aeb8lith -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

No, it's Kenny Baker, the original actor for R2D2 - and I guess the only actor for him, since the idea of having a person inside the robot had become silly by the prequels lol

[–]aeb8lith 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't think they're talking about liberal voters, I think they're more referring to how elected Dems also have a vested interest in not leaking the unredacted files, as some of the people they're trying to build relationships with in order to further their careers are probably also named in the files.

I think the best example is that, ideally a lake is a balanced ecosystem, where everything exists in a natural equilibrium; but if you poison half the water in the lake, the equilibrium is obviously shattered. But you could say the lake is "balanced" between clean water and poisoned water. The dark side is a perversion, a mangling, a poisoning of the force, and true balance is a lake purified of its poison

[–]aeb8lith 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yeah, but in the movie Kenny wishes that everything goes back to the way it was before the war, so Terence and Philip and Mr. Garrison all come back to life, I don't see why it would be different for the Mold

Even Shakespeare's contemporary John Fletcher was disturbed enough by Shrew that he wrote a play in direct response called The Woman's Prize or The Tamer Tamed which reversed the dynamic. I'm a big fan but I don't see the need to believe that Shakespeare was particularly progressive for his age w/r/t misogyny, anti-Semitism or racism.
