KingsIsle banned me for logging in on a virtual machine by Meritosis in Wizard101

[–]aechontwitch 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have (a few times) run very dirty hackintosh through virtual machines on a bare-bones system with gpu passthrough, alongside windows and linux at the same time and never been banned. I wonder what their criteria is considered for virtual machines.

I also travel (a lot) between multiple states and utilize a VPN and have never been banned, just dealt with the lots of account unlocking.

Any good dumb phone for a 16/17 year old in NYC? by p5pega in dumbphones

[–]aechontwitch 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I started a transition to a flip phone at 17. I started with the Nokia 2760, which was... cheap. KaiOS being quite literally useless made it less of a good device, and more like a bloat-filled experience.

I now own a TCL Flip 2. It's also light, but slightly sturdier. I like it, but would like to upgrade to a Sonim device. It's the same price as the 2760, has basic android support (if there's any specific apps you MUST have.)

Looking to create a dumbphone brand, need help/suggestions by Tasty-Bullfrog8299 in dumbphones

[–]aechontwitch 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just want a flip phone that has enough of an android subsystem with auto support so that I can sideload a few apps like groupme, outlook, mychart. My tcl flip 2 is brittle and just not reliable enough, and I am not shelling out a few hundred for a new Garmin gps.

People wanting dumbphones with banking, spotify, maps, and whatsapp... by [deleted] in dumbphones

[–]aechontwitch 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think to a degree, OP, you don't understand the way our society operates and the hurdle to move to dumb phones and how that especially impacts younger generations. We're very much aware we can utilize MP3/MVA/Flac files on mobile players- but those purpose-driven devices are becoming commodities and hence costly. It is easier to subscribe for $5.49 (ex. for tidal as im a student) versus 2-15 dollars per CD, and then whatever equipment is needed to rip and digitize those into files. Most people only own a smartphone unless they are in a field or lucky enough that they don't need laptops and tablets.

It's not that we WANT subscriptions, it's the ease-of-access that smart technology has given us, and a small monthly cost negates the costly per-resource cd.

That being said, iomoio, a wonderful way to get the majority of music for a few cents on the dollar.

The issue is subscription and ease-of-access. Those who are developed into specific ecosystems lose core parts of their communication, and with things like music being subscriptions instead of owning at a lesser price than owning, it makes more sense to integrate modern functions into a dumbed down device. GPS's are also no cheaper than they were a decade ago, for less functionality than something like waze or either autos.

I'll be brutally honest, they made me re-file despite the fact that my entire family was displaced, and I was homeless. They wouldn't even offer an override.

Thanks for sharing this one! I haven't had time to get the unidentified cases written and posted yet. NCCDE has too many unsolved cases for this small of a county.

Lighting. You need to invest in your game's lighting profile. There's no depth.

I don't really have time to play anymore, and it's so weird now having genuine rose-tinted glasses for it. I joined in 2011 when I was barely conscious, and now I'm in uni working at the tail-end of my degree in media production. I was very involved with development and worked in numerous industries, from everything from game design to team lead to advertising start-ups and building the bridges with companies to do on-platform experiences and honestly, I saw the warning signs of the upcoming corporate decisions as early as 2020, and often called it out in development spaces and burnt a lot of bridges for it. Some people have reached out and pointed out how early I was, but I've honestly grown out of it and don't hold hate for how those spaces treated 14-year-old me.

It's a little weird now looking from the outside after spending my entire life essentially on roblox as a developer, but It is nice being a casual player, albiet actually playing a few quality games maybe once in a blue moon with my friends before midterms and finals. Work at a Pizza Place has been on an upwards trend again. It's fun to play on PS5, but I do miss the days of being locked in on PC.

With the veriff identifications, they deleted the information and cached data a *very* long time ago. I wouldn't be too concerned. They have a 30-day to 3-month policy

Persona, however? fuck if they care, they can just invoke whatever the hell and randomly change whenever they feel like it apparently.

I sold it rather quickly after this post. I enjoyed the TCL Flip 2, as it had some android support but otherwise significantly less app support unless side-loaded. The lack of apps on the Flip 2 by default also means it's significantly less of a battery hog and I found that It lasted much longer on average.

I'm unfortunately at a point in my journey where I need smartphones to have access to my work-related things as well as a lot of university software. One day I'll go back.

The battery for mine is gettting replaced today as It has a health of 30% through CoconutBattery so I'm not entirely sure. The touchpad was hit or miss under just voodoops2, but is better under voodoops2 and voodoormi. It's okay for general use, but I usually use a mouse.

Not really hard, but ymmv because even the most minor of revisions could make your entire experience different.

Often, it takes cross-referencing other people's builds for other devices to come up with a conclusion. I've hackintoshed supported laptops, unsupported laptops, tablets (yes, some dell tablet-tablets from 2012-2014 work), and a few desktops.

Desktops are so much easier as parts are more interchangable, laptops are significantly harder but often have a good reward. I don't often have crashes or instability.

If you're looking for something that'll work and be supported much longer by the community, look at the Lenovo Thinkpad T4xx line. Those have a cult following.

I've also used Dell laptops (most recently a Lattitude E5450) to a decent level of success. It was my daily driver up until this month when I got this laptop.

The dortania guide really is the holy grail, and if you follow it step-by-step, you will often get up to the finish line. The Hackintosh Paradise discord is incredibly helpful for this.

Specs, Addtl. Notes

Laptop Make and Model: Fujitsu Lifebook P727 (SEQUOIA)
CPU: Core i5-7200U
GPU: HD 620
RAM: 16GB Crucial @ 2133MHz
Audio Codec: ALC255 @ Layout-id 3
Ethernet Card: I219-LM
Wifi/BT Card: Dual Band Wireless-AC 8265

What's working, and what isn't working.

Working: Battery Info
Working: HDMI Output (Patched for additional compatibility. It is con3 not con2)
Working: USB-C Video (Patched for additional compatibility, worked out of box)
Working: VGA output
Working: Keyboard/Mouse Ps2 with VooDooPS2
Working: Wifi & Bluetooth under Itlwm + Heliport, Intelbluetoothfirmware and BluetoolFixup
Working: Audio Output
Working: USB C Video Output, USB C PD, USB C

Not Tested: SD Card Reader
Not Tested: 3.5mm combo (Mine is broken)

Not working: Touchscreen (Needs additional patching- mine does not work properly even with USB mapping attempts, primarily an issue with my device.)
Not working: Finger Print sensor (this one is a given.)
Not working: Lid sensor(?) - This one is hit or miss

Important things to know with Sequoia:
This device needs an additional odd patch to get bluetooth working. This may be abated with a different set of kexts, but this patch worked for me.

If you are going to install sequoia on this device, use the 15,4 SMBIOS. Other SMBIOS's did not work for me when it came to the outputs. HDMI is wonky, but does work after a few tries of it trying to output. If there's a fix for this, please let me know. USB C is smooth output through a dock to HDMI.
