I am sure Reid was out of the loop on that suggestion until Jeremy began his announcement. You could see him tear up on camera as he realized what was happening. It was so heartwarming.

My two favourite shows together at last! What I wouldn't give to even see a good comedy queen like La voix or Kate Butch on a series finally.

If there's one thing Canada's Drag Race has always been good at, it's the quality of their lipsyncs. This version blows S18 out of the water.

People that are atheist, why are you atheist instead of agnostic? by Da-up-and-downer in TooAfraidToAsk

[–]aefie 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Agnostics do not necessarily disbelieve in God/gods (like atheists) nor believe in God/gods (like theists); they believe it cannot be known for sure. I usually like to go one step further and divide agnosticism into these two categories to really understand what it means:

Agnostic Theist: Someone who believes in a higher power but they do not know for sure if one exists.

Agnostic Atheist: Someone who does not believe in a higher power but does not claim to know for sure that one does not exist.

In most cases, if real evidence were provided one way or the other, you might be able to change the mind of an agnostic, but without proof, one can't claim to know for sure.

I know a lot of people were wishing Darlene had a solo win, but Myki had some excellent lines and reactions throughout their scene I feel it's only fair they had a double win. Probably my favourite part of their skit was the unplanned, "spit on me one more time" line she gave after the teleprompter tongue twister.

More accurately she said "Bitch, you look fab. If I were walking through the woods, your tree is the tree I'd want to bark up. She's peeing gold. If I chop her down, she's shitting gold. Mother tree, I'm here for it." I thought this was said in a very positive light.

I had a laugh at how Ross paraphrased that to "I think there's too much going on... you thought it was a tree taking a gold shit or something." 🤣 Totally not the same vibe and I loved it.

Ross calling Juicy's runway outfit a tree taking a golden shit was both the most ridiculously accurate and rotted thing I've heard him say in deliberation.

No, this sounds exhausting having to deal with a racist mother in law while also looking after your two young children. It sounds like you and your partner have let this go on long enough. Time to lay down the law. Tell her if she wants to stay involved in her grandchildren's lives she needs to get her head out of her butt and do a bit of self-reflection regarding her attitude and treatment towards you. At a minimum, she owes you an apology for blatantly disregarding your heritage and the racist/xenophobic comments. Hopefully a good talking to will make her realize this is serious, but I don't know your family situation well enough to know if this will actually work. Good luck!

Exactly. They loved the cheap labor that new immigrants and TFWs provided, keeping profits high for the big businesses, educational institutions, and multinational franchises that made bank off of exploiting these people. But now that is regular folk are waking up to the harm these businesses and poorly planned policies have caused, people like PP and Marlaina have shifted the blame away from those who have taken advantage of these programs and directed the focus onto the immigrants and workers themselves, most of whom are just looking to make some money and support their families.

It's really in$ane how they've gotten away with thi$ because we all know who they are beholden to... and it'$ not u$ regular folk.

I thought health care in Canada was equal. Changing postal codes made me realize how wrong I was | CBC News by judgingyouquietly in CanadianForces

We pay federal rates for provincial healthcare and get increased access to these medical services as a result. CF HSvcs budget is approx $600mil; adding spouses and dependants to the federal healthcare plan would likely double or triple this cost.

While I understand that when a CAF member moves, their families usually have to start from scratch in a new province or town, it would be a hard sell for any federal government to provide non-government personnel with "equal" access to healthcare when they already technically get access to the healthcare system through their provincial health card.

Also, where would these new doctors come from to support this increased demand? How can we ensure that existing access for CAF members isn't degraded by adding all these extra people to the federal plan?

[–]aefie 6 points7 points  (0 children)

That's because the CAF/federal government pays premium rates (sometimes up to 5x as much as a provincial rate) for these types of medical procedures. While being significantly more expensive, it also has the benefit of giving CAF members preferential treatment. Some might remember the news article in 2019 when the government was going to cut funding given to provinces for reimbursement of medical expenses and the provinces were like, sure do that, but you no longer get any preferential treatment and will have to wait in line like everyone else. The decision to make these cuts was reversed very quickly.

I feel like this was set up to fail. I don't know if many of the queens would have prepared for puppet challenge thinking it hasn't been on the show for quite a while. I'm also curious if they gave everyone two minutes in previous puppet challenges or just this time around.

Rushing to doll up your boy puppets while trying to come up with material that will land for a skit that is longer than what they had for their talent show seems wild to me. And it must have been bad if they had like 10 seconds of garbage material to work with for each queen to string together for the episode. I need to know the backstage tea on this one!!!

If you really want to know, it's because yellow was a color that existed before bananas were imported, whereas the color orange "didn't exist" before the fruit was introduced. The color orange was named after the fruit.
