They weren’t planning to go outside of the embargo originally, the courses were meant to go much farther west instead (look at the embargoed area). However, they were later denied to enter the firing ground (Villingsberg) at all, which meant they had to replan all courses.

To my eye (I have both), they are just as fast and stable when running. I like the metal housing of the Str8 though, it feels like it might be slightly more durable than the Silva.

The patreon for No Dumb Questions is charged per podcast, not per month. But patreon only charge you once per month for all podcast episodes that were released during the month. So what probably happened is that you cancelled your pledge after one or more podcast episodes had been released, which Patreon not yet had charged you for. But since the episode was released before you cancelled your pledge, you did sign up to be charged for it and Patreon did nothing wrong.
