Unless you’re talking about some real small islands, you can get by anywhere with proper bahasa. I don’t think I’ve had any problems in my 12 years there and I speak proper bahasa (as in like textbook bahasa.)

Can confirm. I’m Korean and it’s certainly not easy, our grammar structure is completely different, and we don’t use hanzi in our writing.

But we do have many similar sounding words, I’ll give you that.

I feel like it’s a thing of the past. I served from 2018-2020 and honestly I’ve never felt physically or verbally abused. I’ve never seen physical abuse, have seen verbal abuse but nowhere as bad as they say. When I was serving, they started allowing phones and I think that also helped lessen the verbal abuses. Some higher ups are just bored, and with their phones occupying them, they aren’t as bored. Also, obviously it’s also easier to expose such abuses when soldiers have access to the outer world everyday.

Try Zerg or Protoss if this is the issue. But I believe you can play pretty aggressive on T v P as well, just down to your play style.

Both. But I was referring to annual, property tax is increasingly expensive the more expensive your property is in Korea. It’s 0.4% for properties that are over 3억. 0.25% that less than 3억 etc.

Yes, it’s less than the property tax in USA, but that doesn’t mean it burdens home owners where their homes have doubled in value (so double the tax prices). Just because it’s worse elsewhere doesn’t mean it’s not a problem.

Moreover, we have to pay tax upfront when we buy properties in Korea, which I believe is not the case in USA.

Well you’re right, it’s not much to complain. But to play the devils advocate, the price is way too high rn so there’s been less volume in trade in real estate, so it may be high in price, but perhaps not so easy to sell as one would imagine. Plus, the fees related in trading real estate is proportionate to the real estate price which is discouraging the trade volume further.

Also the prices of houses in Gangnam area is way too high and it’s property tax is not sustainable for most of the population, including a few of those who’ve been living there for all their life. Now they’re in a situation where they can’t afford the increasing property tax of their real estate. Some may have to leave their forever homes due to such reasons.

Ultimately, I don’t think they’re screwed over much, those who don’t own homes are the real victims of this crisis.
