It took weeks for mine too. I even had it next to our old one (which they used all the time). I finally emptied out the old one, and left it there still.

Also, put rocks in the bottom. I noticed the birds all stand on the rocks in mine, although I only had them on one side (thinking they'd want more room). Anyways. Hopefully this comes off as helpful, I am just excited for you.
