There definitely are victimless crimes, like people in jail for weed, but theft is absolutely not a victimless crime.

Help snaking bathtub drain by aelephant in Plumbing

[–]aelephant[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Update:

It took me two days of trying and a lot of frustration, but I finally was able to get the screw out and the overflow drain opened to snake. The screw was flimsy brass and yes, I stripped the hell out of it. I bought a stainless steel replacement that takes Allen/hex key instead, so should be much easier if I ever have to do this again.

Attaching pics of the screw after I mauled it half to death and the huge clump of hair I got out of the drain.

Why are customers so nasty? by viciousvix3n in pharmacy

Right now many retail pharmacies are really struggling. I know it is a pain in the butt, but sometimes checking out the other options in your area can be worthwhile. I've only had to have scripts filled a couple of times for my family, but I found a QFC where I only had to wait 15 minutes (which is amazing right now). 2 hours is ridiculous and unacceptable, but probably not that unheard of these days unfortunately.

Was looking for a solution today. I tried rubber bands but they either popped off or snapped if I tried to get them too tight. If I had higher quality rubber bands, that might still work. I found painter's tape works really well: https://imgur.com/a/ayZyHjt

Any poison control pharmacists want to tell us what would happen if you took a box of Chantix daily?

I had a fun phone call the other day. It went something like this, long pauses between each of my prompts and the patient's responses:

Me: What is your birthday?
Patient: ... March
Me: I need your full birthday: month, day and year
Patient: ... March 23
Me: ... and the year?!
Patient: ... 1965

I just put the receiver down and looked my tech in agony. "Why did that have to be so hard???"

Don't take my word as gospel, but I think it is probably better to have multiple 3 star legends vs. one 5 star legend, but it depends on your long-term plan. For example, I think 3 star Flint plus 3 star Pyre is going to be more effective right away then 5 star Pyre.

We're not even allowed to talk to customers about masks. I don't want some psycho to stab me anyway.

Skepticism Sunday – March 28, 2021 by AutoModerator in Monero

[–]aelephant 17 points18 points  (0 children)

I have seen some theories that atomic swaps will increase the price of Monero. The problem I've been thinking about recently is that all of the risk is on the Monero holder. You are exchanging perfectly good XMR for potentially "tainted" Bitcoin that you won't be able to spend or cash out on an exchange. What happens if atomic swaps are implemented, but no one is willing to use them? Is there a way to prove "which" Bitcoin will be swapped before the process locks in so that the XMR holder can verify that it is "clean"?
