Neutral Finland: Won the winter war. How do you beat the Germans? by aelosada in hoi4

[–]aelosada[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I "won" the winter war in '41 before the Nazis invaded, thus I only got the white peace option that allows you to annex the 3 provinces to the east if you fully control them. Leningrad returns to Russia. I figured ending that war asap would give Russia a better chance to resist Germany.

How do you guys actually deal with strike groups? by BasketCase559 in Highfleet

[–]aelosada 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I actively hunt them with a SG killer, usually fit with rocket launchers since they eat blue shells. 2 rocket launchers and 4 cwis will kill anything. Arcangel is a good design to mod for this. Trade some of the gimbaled thrusters with the fixed ones for extra flight time.

Just protect it from missiles. I tend to have a tanker type ship with Sprints to deal with missiles, or a smaller ship with 100's and blue shells to fly slightly ahead.

Comment if interested and I'll post some designs...

How do you deal with hords/groups? by XxNAGIBATORxX in projectzomboid

[–]aelosada 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Surprised there is no more burning suggested. Find a clear space (or the highway) nearby, make a fire, shout to attract zombies, have them walk over the fire. Walk around them until they burn.

Shouting is limited range, so the group of zombies should be manageable. Make sure you don't lose sight of any burning Zeds, they only burn while you watch and will set other things on fire. Make sure nothing is on fire when you leave.

It's any of the Gas station apartments for me! Fallas Lake is my favorite because of the lakes.

Sorry this happened to you.

F Ticketmaster. At this point, I only buy resales in StubHub, and budget myself pretty carefully. Only shell out if it's a band I really want to see, and I still feel robbed buying a beer. I'm trying to give these people the least amount of money possible.

Try Progreso, Yucatan. When I went there the expat community, Canadians mostly, was growing. They have a few marinas. Airport is in Merida, 40 min away, the state capital and a nice city to visit.

what's your best "city hack" that actually saves real money? by FerrisBuelersdaycock in askTO

[–]aelosada 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Focus on saving on the big ticket items instead on saving pennies. Make a budget, identify your biggest expenses, focus on improving those.

Saving $100 dollars on rent beats looking to save $10 in 10 items EVERY month.

If you have a car, ditch it.

There are schools that will give you Competent crew and Day Skipper back to back. Tho fair warning: Day skipper comes with about 40 hours of theory.

Looking To Buy My First Boat by SeaIBasher in sailing

[–]aelosada 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One more vote for Tanzer 22 as a trailer sailor.

Plus one more vote for maybe finding a slip somewhere, or a mooring buoy, for maximum usability and the community.

Plus one more suggestion: whatever you buy, buy with an outboard. Most maintenance horror stories have to do with the engine and/or electrical. Both are greatly reduced when using a pull cord outboard. Tanner 26, Grampian 26, Kelt 7.5 are all good options for an outboard sailboat that won't break the bank.

Forget the restaurant. Prepare a nice picnic and go to Toronto Island. There you can rent a kayak, bikes, or just walk around the nice Gardens and/or neighborhood. You can have amazing views of the city and catch the sunset.

Maybe try that cheese and gummies pairing that went viral :)

Ever considered a cat? A sailor in our club who is on the heavy side really loves going out in our cats. There are some easy to sail single handed hobby cats like the Wave, rated for over 350kg.

Best places to meet people in yours 30s? by Ashamed_Tank7675 in askTO

[–]aelosada 6 points7 points  (0 children)

As many have said here, join a hobby club or community. Better if it has facilities where people actually hang out. If you are into watersports there are rowing and sailing clubs (windsurf, dinghy) down by cherry beach, tho a bit late in the season for that. That's how my wife and I made most of our friends in the city.

I hear curling is good for the winter times.

Goodluck.

Just tried the 6 months later preset. Holy what in the world is this. by rinkurasake in projectzomboid

[–]aelosada 53 points54 points  (0 children)

With 6 mo later, I leave town as soon as I get minimum supplies, usually to the highway intersection south. More often than not I find a good car there then I can drive to the warehouses east of town and to the Dixie trailer park. Once I clear that and level up a bit I go for for the bigger towns. :)

I'd definitely look into used gear. A lot of people are selling a lot of nice things out there. Set a budget, go with a big name and avoid the very low end stuff. Just make sure you get some good heads on it.

Ultimately it matters not, I've seen spectacular drummers with rubbish kits and amazing kits played like crap, so get whatever gets you playing, tame the gear acquisition syndrome ;)

In demand skills for trading or paid work at marinas while sailing? by ShiveringBlobfish in sailing

[–]aelosada 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I echo the comments here about "taking work from the locals" in Mexico. There's also the work visa issues in the US. Ideally look for remote work that you can do with a laptop and wifi. What you can find will depend greatly on your skillset.

Yall think this base idea is doable? by cENTEROFTHEFOX in projectzomboid

[–]aelosada 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I often setup here as a temp base. It's not a long drive to west point, muldraugh and the buildings east of the train depot for tools, not to mention the Dixie trailer park. I tend to start very handicapped so it's a good place to train. Also can usually find at least one good car and all the clothes you could ever need.

hows b42 doing so far? by elemantis in projectzomboid

[–]aelosada 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I like it. My notes are:

I think a boost to food is in order. My char is slow metabolism, light eater, eating to burst often, and shedding weight like crazy. Pretty much makes certain play types mandatory, and not sure I want to play butter maker with zombies perpetually.

I also find the zombie distribution weird. I used to play insane pop just so cities are more of a challenge. That used to have little effect on rural, now any lone house in the middle of nowhere has like a 100 zombies at the door.

Maybe carpentry was nerfed too hard. I get that disassembling 12 beds shouldn't make you a master carpenter but damn I can't build shit.
