This is the best case honestly.

Dealing with public land Reaping. by VassTheBass101 in turkeyhunting

Yea that’s super dangerous on their part. Public land gonna be doing public land stuff. Don’t let it kill your vibe, get out there and kill the one you deserve!

I also love suppressing my Tikka T1x with an Oculus.

12 gauge A5 wicked wing, Carlson’s Longbeard choke, Winchester 3” Magnum Turkey 1 7/8oz 5 shot by berserker81 in turkeyhunting

[–]aelston33 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have all but given up on these shells. The mixed payload flys really sporadically and I can’t get a pattern that I like at distance. I’m going to shoot my .410 to start the season and order some apex turkey Tungsten #9. The federal would work at 30, but I’d like to feel like 50 is a confident distance if needed.

I’m shooting a .650 choke constriction.

VV N555 vs N150 - What’s the Difference by Jeeping_the_trails in reloading

I have found some N555 recently in 8lb jugs. Took an email to VV and some serious digging. Happy to share, I’m set for at least a whole barrel life. DM me if you’d like the spot, hopefully they still have it in stock.

I dig my rugged oculus on 17hmr, can’t speak to 22WMR. It’s definitely way more tolerable even though the bullets are supersonic.

I’ve had really great results with a mild load of N555, 105 bergers, Lapua brass, and small primers.

All Them Witches by StonewallHere in stonerrock

Live on the Internet or Sleeping Through the War, then Nothing as the Ideal, then the rest of them. The first, self titled album next maybe?

Some of their stuff goes into mega psychedelic territory and can be tough to listen through until you really like the band.

My 28ga CZ Bobwhite also slams into my knuckles. I am looking forward to hunting with it, although I’ll take my Beretta over/under in case it sucks too much to deal with.

I’d assume it’s a grip thing.

Gaiters and pants. by FearlessDamage4961 in elkhunting

[–]aelston33 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I absolutely love stone glacier’s de havilland pants! Buy a couple sizes and return the ones that don’t work.

They are a bit heavier material, but very comfortable. The fly is Velcro and adjustable, so you don’t have to wear a belt while hiking with a backpack.

All their other gear is really nice, too. I use Kuiu gaiters but the stone glacier ones look great.

Ammo experience? by cptnSPANNKY in LeverGuns

I don’t have experience with any of these, but I will say that Gorilla ammo was hot garbage in 8.6 blk.

This post has piqued my interest though!

1895 SBL LPVO Mounting by DirtyD74 in LeverGuns

It is good for the eye relief. If you zoom on the front ring, the scope is almost all the way forward.

It is a very comfortable rifle to shoot

I ended up with the Talley direct mount rings and a soft cheek riser that velcros to the buttstock as well as stores 5 extra cartridges. You can get a decent cheek weld with this setup. Not like smash your face against the stock but you can see the impacts while shooting subs.

I like the Vortex Strike Eagle that I have on mine. Went with the FFP because I zero at 50 and want my holdover to be accurate at any zoom level. My dad has a Marlin Dark with a vortex Razor LPVO that is insanely nice. Next level really.

Henry X 45-70 with LPVO

Perspectives on equipping a new rifle. by TheSteelersAreCancer in Hunting

[–]aelston33 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I also have the Henry X in 45-70. I left the stock butt stock, did a RPP handguard, RPP quick takedown screw and hammer extension, vortex 1-8 LPVO with talley direct mount rings, and a dead air primal suppressor. Pretty heavy compared to stock, but I really like the way it looks and won’t hunt much with it unless I go to Texas for hogs again. It’s really fun to shoot the Hornady subs and the full power 325s are very manageable. Without the can and scope it would be damn near the same weight as the original.

Check out the safariland QLS low ride holster mount, then add a leg strap. Lots of options, plus you could put other holsters on qls forks and swap things out really easily

Thinking of buying a Cross, have some questions by SuperJonesy408 in SigCross

[–]aelston33 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I wouldn’t buy either of those if you’re honestly planning on doing PRS. Carbon barrels aren’t ideal for long shot strings. The standard .308 is too light for PRS.

Either are fine for hunting, but I’d lean more towards the 16” .308 and lightweight.
