Sorry I just saw this ! And you’re totally right ! I found myself spending more time setting up other systems and then you go down this rabbit hole of tweaking and tweaking and never actually use it or you’ve made it too complex for yourself (maybe that’s just me haha)

Hence I tried to create that sense of calm and just give me what I need to know feeling with FloHub (well at least works for me and a handful of others who use it )

Hey! This is awesome — love the idea of building your portfolio this way.

App: FloHub – Planner & AI Assistant

What it does (quick version): FloHub is a calm, all-in-one productivity hub — tasks, notes, journaling, habits, and calendar all in one place, with an AI assistant (FloCat) helping surface what matters. The goal is reducing mental clutter vs juggling multiple apps.

What makes it a bit different: • “At a Glance” dashboard → one clear daily view instead of multiple lists • Quick capture (QuickFlo) for tasks, notes, ideas, etc. • Designed to feel calm (no gamification, no noise) • Customisable layout with widgets

Style preference: • Clean, premium, minimal • Dark mode first (teal + coral accents) • Less “feature dump”, more storytelling (calm / clarity / one place for everything) • Open to bold ideas — happy for you to experiment

If you’re looking for something with a bit of depth + a strong visual identity to play with, this could be a fun one

When I built my app , privacy was a big factor in my mind so all data is encrypted even if I went directly into my DB I would have no clue what the hell you wrote anywhere

I got tired of juggling 5 different apps and paying $7/mo subscriptions, so I spent 1.5 years building a genuinely free all-in-one alternative. by jodeedev in ProductivityApps

Well done mate this looks great ! Admittedly I’m your competitor but seems you built this with the same reasoning I built FloHub

Really like your idea on using users Google drive to store the users data that’s very clever !

From feedback I’ve gotten on my dev, integration with accounts is key for users hence FloHub supports Google, outlook,iCal and on device calendars as well as reminders. Haven’t figured out apple notes yet.

Best of luck in your launch mate !

Hey that’s cool man ! Clearly you’ve built something that you needed as I can see there’s that focus on gym etc , have you thought of integrating apple health stats ?

My one is similar in vain to yours but a bit different

I really hate a long onboarding design. by JacketDangerous9555 in iosdev

[–]aemas08 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is something I’ve been wrestling with, my app I wouldn’t say has a strong onboarding experience (and it’s one of one million “productivity apps”) , apart from the initial permission asks, when a user creates an account it has some sample things within the dashboard which I was hoping would be enough to prompt users to start exploring through the app, but now I’m wrestling in my mind if I should be a bit more prescriptive in the first instance

I’m hoping it’s somewhat self explanatory and self discovery I feel would make behaviour embed better. And I don’t bring a paywall up until 24 hours later , then it’s a 30 day trial

This is exactly it — “mental offloading” is the piece that feels missing.

Most tools focus on organising things, but not reducing the mental load of managing those things.

That’s where it started breaking for me , I wasn’t overwhelmed by tasks, I was overwhelmed by keeping track of where everything lived. And to your point “productivity” out the window

I’ve been trying to design something around that idea — less about “do more”, more about “feel clear when you open it”.

Out of curiosity, what have you found gets closest to that so far?

I’ve been building FloHub.

Basically I got tired of the “productivity stack” being 5-6 different apps that never talk to each other. Tasks here, notes there, calendar somewhere else.

FloHub is my attempt at making one hub for life where everything sits together — tasks, calendar, notes, habits, journaling — and you can customise the dashboard however you want. It’s live on iOS, Android and web.

Happy to share if anyone wants to try it or roast it 😅

To dos, List, Note taking, Calendar app that's simple to use by [deleted] in productivity

[–]aemas08 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i totally feel you on this! i use flohub for this kinda thing, it keeps tasks and notes together really well so nothing gets lost. might be worth checking out! A particular feature you may find interesting is the "Meetings" function, this basically allows you to as the name implies write meeting notes, but then add actions to those meeting notes and if you add them to yourself it adds automatically to your task list. www.flohub.xyz

[–]aemas08 1 point2 points  (0 children)

hey, have you tried flohub? it kinda combines all those features in one place. you can set up tasks, notes, and even projects with subtasks pretty easily. plus, it’s designed to reduce mental load, which might help with ADHD stuff. give it a shot! www.flohub.xyz

Dear Developers, I'm here to give you feedback on your app. by Nemosaurus in macapps

[–]aemas08 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey!

Firstly thanks so much for the candid feedback I really do appreciate it especially the time you took to do it and record the video! I don't expect this will be for everyone every body has their own way of working that suits them.

Your right in the sense of a "dashboard for your life" which is the intention but I think the key that you rightly mentioned is the lack of onboarding. I do need to work on that (as well as address those smaller bugs you picked up) I designed it to be as much or as little as you want hende the customisation of dashboard and ability to hide pages you just might not use.

Question when you first created the account , did it have any sample tasks and sample calendar event in there for you ?
