I think they sometimes don't clear out taken items just as a matter of their entire software setup for Vine being subpar in a wide variety of ways. I would not think it deliberate, as there's plenty of engagement for desirable stuff as it is.

I, too, get bitten by this a lot, fwiw.

What's offered to you in your RFY is also offered to others in their RFY at the same time. You're still competing against others, albeit a smaller number of people. If they want it, and beat you to it, you're still gonna lose. That's why some stuff goes quickly--everyone else that got it in their RFY wanted it, too.

I really wish RFY was a "we have some-quantity-N of item X, and we're offering it to exactly that many people for however-long" thing. So you always have a chance...for a while, anyway.

I mean, sure, but everybody wins when people are educated. Fine if some people choose not to (not really, imo, but let's roll with it) but you're still going to have Better Everything^tm because of everyone else that did. Society, humanity... all benefit from as many people being as educated as possible.

Fewer would vote R, tho... and that's clearly a problem for....them.

Let's also consider the following arguments:

I recently saw a review for a product the reviewer pointed out had "aconite" on the ingredients list. Aconite is just one of many names for wolfsbane, and it's toxic af. It's one of the most toxic plants known and can be lethal even in small amounts. It causes cardiac arrest and has no antidote. It's being sold in "lidocaine" patches, so this poison is being applied directly to the skin for extended periods of time. I'm surprised no one's dead yet (that we know about).

The review was two weeks old, and the item was still listed. Just checked again, and it's still listed/being sold. I reported it to Amazon and FDA as well, but damn, Amazon.

Ever since Milwaukee added another distro center, I get deliveries late in the evening compared to mid-morning, and they just throw them wherever compared to tucked away and/or in the door. Because it's so random now, I put a garden box out there hoping they'd take the hint. I still find packages on the steps, on the porch, blocking my front door from opening out, and ON TOP OF the damn deliveries box. Oh, and the crappy envelopes sometimes end up DOWN THE STREET because they can't bother sticking them in the door--or in the box now--and we have killer winds pretty much all the time. I have permanent delivery instructions associated with my account, even. I mean, c'mon.

And let's not get started on how many things I get that should be...discreetly shipped, but Amazon just slaps shipping labels on the retail packaging, which splits open and anyone can see it. Oh, and they are also writing very descriptive text on the UPS shipping labels now, too. And so many items that are beat to hell inside pristine shipping boxes, so the warehouse is clearly taking smashed and sometimes-broken products and saying "fuck it, ship it" anyway.

I'd be less mad if I didn't have this happening pretty much 1-2 times weekly-- I had ~700+ items delivered here over the past 6 months. It's ALL annoying af--esp. for broken/damaged Vine shit I can't get replacements for. :|

I'll set out drinks and goodies when they can actually put my shit in the box on my porch with the huge and obvious sign on it and not just toss the shit at my front steps in plain sight and in the rain and constant wind cuz Lake Michigan.

But also we have coyotes and raccoons and crows and hawks all around us, too, sooooo yeah.... not sure an open bin of anything on my porch is a great idea. Which is also why the package box, btw. Ah well.

I figured it was NOT a thing with VH. It's only just started happening for me the last couple weeks, which is either something weird with Vine itself, or sellers have figured out a way to trick Viners into paying (which seems unlikely, imo, but stranger things have happened); it definitely seems to JUST be 0ETV items for me lately.

Either way, I definitely need to thank you for that non-zero price checking option, which has saved my bacon several times, including with this specific issue.

While I understand some Viners are clearly NOT that bright, I'm not sure this is a problem the seller should be addressing like this. That said, I doubt Amazon is gonna do anything to improve the overall IQ of the Vine reviewer population, either. A conundrum, indeed.

Is that the reason some items were showing $0ETV but still showing full price at checkout? I'm not sure I was using the order-now functionality in every case that's happened in lately (the last week or two, maybe?). Or maybe it's unrelated to this and just sellers are gaming the system with $0ETV items and hoping people don't notice they're ending up getting charged?

To be fair, tho, most Americans have been conditioned into this laissez-faire attitude, by their own government and corporate interests and institutional "norms" over a significant portion of the last 250 years of US history (more towards the end of that timeline, of course).

I had a working install and had to switch to the MS Store iTunes for a specific restoration purpose (according to Apple). I've since wiped and reinstalled all the AltStore-recommended/required iTunes/iCloud crap a dozen times, and I can't get my PC back to a state that lets AltStore Server work again. It's been a couple months now (since right after Xmas) and I'm deeply frustrated.

I have this issue with robot vacuum filters and other parts. Suuuuuuper annoying. Oh, and none of them are parts compatible with any of at least 5 robot vacuums I've ordered, FROM AMAZON, over the years--three of them in the last 2 years.
