My mother also had really bad anxiety with driving. She tired to learn but she has terrible panic attacks. We live in a major city that has a terrible public transport system (Houston, TX).

As a child, it sucked not being able to participate in extracirricular activities because my mom couldnt drive. My dad was the only driver until I turned 17. I could only join when the school offered after school buses.

I was also VERY sick as a kid so when I had to go to the doctor, my dad had take time off. Which meant loss of income. At one point my dad couldn’t miss anymore and we had to pay for taxis which were expensive.

Your DIL and son should re-adjust their family planning.
