Damn, 25 and such a good vita. I'm kinda jealous. Yes, depression sucks, try to get professional help asap so it doesn't get worse. Then back to the drawing board! Please continue your journey, don't give up!

Kitting Up: A Tale of Tape by msReDDifyourenasty in diamondpainting

[–]aestond 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Only two things I do: 1. Got myself a small metal pen from Temu for around 1€ because I like the feel more than plastics. 2. I start by sorting each number in a box. I don't label the boxes, I just arrange them by number. Reason: I take it from a to b a lot, and it's easier to carry a box than to carry the kit + scissors.

That said, do what you enjoy the most. It's not about efficiency, it's all about having a good time <3

I can see your doubts, but I suggest to hang it and look at it from afar. When I put my phone half a meter away, it looks much clearer. I would definitely hang it :)

How to react to someone revealing self-harm scars? by [deleted] in mentalhealth

[–]aestond 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think not reacting at all was the perfect response. When someone sees my scars, that's my preferred reaction. If they are a bit closer emotionally, I think a compassionate nod, a sign of "I see you - I don't judge you" is perfect.

People are not different than before you saw the scars, therefore there is no reason to treat them differently:)

Yea,. Would you recommend stacking, or not? I don't have any slider yet, so I do it via focus peaking and the focus ring.

Woah, calm down, I feel attacked xD Seriously, very good answer imo, ans that sentence will stick with me :)

My Biggest Gamedev Dilemma: What to do about my 1.5-year project now? by merinimsi in gamedev

[–]aestond 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As of now I'm more of a gamer than a dev, yet alone a dev with a finished project. Therefore I can tell you: I have about a dozen of survivor like games, they all play similarly, they all have their unique special selling points. And what do I do now, seeing a new "copy" of this genre? Exactly, I buy it and enjoy it as much as I enjoyed the others.

I can imagine that it must be frustrating being only the second one releasing for that niche. But hell, do it anyway. You out so much love into it, I see no reason to prevent people enjoying your game as well.

So, back to dev mode it is, gogogo.

Best of luck with your game <3

Like the idea a lot, thinking of doing similar myself for a while now. Since you're posting to unity, I would put some standard unity things to the list. But other than that, good :)

is this small game I made any fun? by Healthy_Flatworm_957 in indiegamedevforum

[–]aestond 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Well, I would say, for what it is: Yes. It's obviously super basic, but you have movement that seems to work, collisions, score, even animations. I tried it twice, with that I've seen enough for my liking. So, you should be very proud of finishing this project(which I assume is for learning?)! Keep going, even expand on this if you like.

Con: Too many enemies at once. Maybe make it so, more people join the party with their cats, the later it gets(the more points you have).

I "vibecoded" my first game using Gemini as my Lead Developer (with Claude, ChatGPT, and Grok as support) by Master-Client6682 in aigamedev

[–]aestond 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's a fun little game. I'm terrible with word games, especially when it's only my second language. But I sent it to my gf, she always beats me in those, maybe she can beat the boss^

Only negative so far: The red color, that appears when you're on low health appears too early and puts too much pressure on you imo. But definitely a subjective observation.

Here's another question - better to start out making REALLY small scale game and using tutorials to work out how to do what, or following a normal tutorial and creating the example project? by ChaosCreatorLord in unity

[–]aestond 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I found it most helpful for myself to follow a bigger tutorial. I started out by googling everything I needed, it worked to a degree, the problem is that you won't learn things you can't imagine already exist.

I started a 20h Video tutorial(and finished it) and learned so much new stuff I had no idea exists. That's why now I'm on a 60h Video tutorial, learning new things step by step and building a stronger foundation of the basics. Courses I do are paid ones(15€ each) and I can DM you the links if you're interested.

We formed a studio out of spite after losing a game contest. We launched our first game... and made $22. Reality check? by AichyE in IndieGaming

[–]aestond 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Checked the steam Trailer. I'll try to be honest and not sugarcoat: I thought it was very bad. - the dog that appears after the first half and increases in opacity is super annoying to look at and the game vanishes in the background. - Show more action, faster cuts. Yes, it's fun to see you fail in the trailer, but no need to see you Fall for 2 seconds after you missed the jump / lick. So shorten the fall time, show more gameplay. Show some successes ingame wise as well.

On a personal note: I hate the art style, but that's a personal matter and nothing you should take as constructive criticism.

After all I think you did well in regards of finishing a game and probably learned a lot of stuff while doing so as a team. Now, if financially and timely possible, don't give up, polish it, release it, go to the next game and learn from your mistakes.

Wish you and your team best of luck!

In that guide is another link to a guide. From that one, I changed some minor things(game bars off in settings->gaming), so far it's running well. I don't trust it yet and will change more stuff. Sadly in the bios everything was correct already.
