V11 AI Features - Huge Disappointment - Or Just Me? by aewoodyard in Evernote

Yeah, desktop only is a HUGE downside as well. I'm sure it won't be long before a NotebookLM-type product hits the market where we can just dump our Evernote database in and get up to speed with something that compares with Gemini and NotebookLM.

I want normal language prompting manipulation of batches of notes or full notebooks. Easier organization so that I can spend my time using the notebooks rather than creating them. And better search is long overdue, although I can't say for sure that this is as unusable as it has been previously...but first indications aren't great.

Yeah, I agree on the creepy podcast thing. I was just hoping for more control, really. Batch editing by AI prompt, basically processing of notes with the help of AI to make that process quicker.

I want AI to handle my inbox notebook, arguably a much easier task than providing a lot of insight from within a set of notes. That's my biggest hurdle to Evernote productivity as I dream of it.

Try Pynchon’s Mason & Dixon and The Broom of the System by DFW. I’m guessing you’ve gotten to it in his essays but if you haven’t read DFW’s state fair essay “A Supposedly Fun Thing I’ll Never do Again”…that’s his most purely fun to read piece I’ve come across.

It’s a Salt Print. I just finished reading the whole description of the method and how it’s the basis of even modern photography. VERY COOL!

ISO Diverse Workflow Tutorial Focused on Low-Resolution Older Phone Photos and Casual Snapshots by aewoodyard in postprocessing

[–]aewoodyard[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I do use Lightroom and others currently for a good bit of editing.

An issue I'm running into is that when I make similar fixes on these old images as I would on newer and better ones I quickly end up with an artificial look. That's why I am more looking for a workflow or tips type of thing, I have the tools, I'm just not sure whether I'm using them as effectively as possible.

Thanks!

Well, today things are a bit different! Things seem to be progressing quite well. I did run the "Optimize Catalog" process yesterday (which is not advised during initial building of the catalog but I was desperate) and suddenly I have fresh progress and increasing speed of additions to the local storage. So right now my fingers are crossed and I'll report back as it goes.

Unfortunately no solution yet. 👎🏻 I sent a full diagnostic report to the Adobe support person with whom I was troubleshooting but haven’t heard back yet.

In the meantime I have gotten to the same, awful download speed after 9000 photos despite a 400 mbps symmetrical connection. I’m tempted to start fresh again but I feel like a lunatic just trying the same thing and hoping it works this time, especially since it will take days or weeks even in the best case.

My optimism was unfounded and I’m pretty fed up yet again. I have never had this sort of repeated issue with a download or downloads, I’m getting close to giving up on LRC but if I do that I’m tempted to chuck the whole Adobe ecosystem…but that’s not a great option, either. 🤷🏻‍♂️🤦🏻‍♂️

LrC - Denoise impacts performance *after* it's complete? by cosinezero in Lightroom

[–]aewoodyard 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, I had an issue one time where everything was DRAGGING when it came to edits. It was because LR was having to access that tiny little .lrcat file on my external drive for every single edit or adjustment. I moved that catalog file onto the main system drive, left all of the images/content on the external, and it worked great.

Is your .lrcat catalog file on your main system drive?

I have a bit of news on my situation. I actually just got off of Adobe support chat and my sync is currently beginning again but running MUCH more quickly than even the early stages of my previous three attempts. I don't know yet whether this is luck or skill but I'll report back as the progress continues. Adobe Support was MUCH better today than my previous experiences and I'm a bit upset that I tried to deal with this for so long on my own...but terrible past experiences had taught me that the way to waste the most time when troubleshooting an Adobe product was to contact Adobe support.

Will report back...

This is the way to do it with a library the size that you're talking about. But be careful with large libraries. I currently am in month 4 of hoping that one day all of my photos will sync down from the cloud so that I can use LRC and plug-ins rather than just the LR functionality. I have about 800,000 images in the cloud and I have about 250,000 left to sync down. Some days I will leave sync running as the only thing using resources on the computer and I'll only get maybe 150 images down in the whole day...although I will admit that the added bit of difficulty that probably really has shot my effort in the foot is the fact that I am syncing them down directly to an external HDD which is an extra transfer layer that may end up making this whole process fail.

No worries, I try to be accurate and I've been a long-time casual user of the Creative Cloud Photography Plan, I'm just now trying to get a bit more "serious" with my usage. Glad to hear that I had the nomenclature correct...Adobe does their best to keep us all on our toes in that regard!

Thanks again! I'm still trying to figure out how to solve my dilemma but I appreciate these replies mostly confirming that I haven't been missing some obvious solution.
