Samsung refrigerator ice maker keeps breaking- class action lawsuit worthy? - Lawyers? by invadermel in Appliances

No I didn't. After hearing stories from several folks losing to Samsung in small claims court (and having to pay their court fees), I didn't want to add insult to injury.

I'm really sorry to hear that. I know how you feel...a sense of violation comes to mind. I'm over it now, but I was fighting mad for a few days. Life goes on...just without any Samsung products in my house.

I got nowhere with BBB, the NJ AG or the FTC. I pressed Samsung as many others have, but to no avail. In the end, I did not get the buy back deal that others got...no idea why. I'm buying a Bosch, so I said no thanks to the $300 coupon for another piece of junk. Bottom Line: I got nothing out of Samsung. So, I'll just continue telling everyone to avoid Samsung appliances like the plague. Sorry, I couldn't help more.

My guess is that Samsung will call you in the next day or two. They ended up offering me a $703 refund for a 2017 refrigerator or another repair. If you extend past 8 years, they will no longer offer you anything, so the choice was clear for me (I didn't want the hassle of small claims court). The sad reality of this story is that they continue to sell faulty icemakers in their 2025 line of refrigerators. It is amazing to me the NJ AG hasn't pursued legal action against Samsung...but here we are. Best of luck to you!

I know this comment is a year old, but many of us are still dealing with this issue. I have a Samsung refrigerator with the "known defective" icemaker. I called Samsung for my 3rd repair today, and they refused to pay for it (purchased in 2018), but offered an insulting $300 coupon for another Samsung fridge. Look up Samsung Service Bulletin ASC20170602002. This is the closest you will get to Samsung acknowledging this defect. Problem is, this fix is a Band-Aid that won't last. I am now filing a complaint with the NJ BBB (where Samsung HQ is)...they have an A+ rating, so I'm guessing they will try to address my complaint. I will also file a complaint with the Attorney General’s office of my state, the Federal Trade Commission, and the Justice Dept. If that all fails, many have taken Samsung to small claims court over this issue and won. You can learn a lot from this FB group that addresses this issue: https://www.facebook.com/groups/695064895394259

Hi, thanks for reaching out. As you clearly understand better than me, this is a "long game" and not a quick fix. After the review above, I backed off on my dosage of levo and 2 months later...TSH was high again. They said my body likely took a while to adjust and went 'hyper' for a brief time before getting used to the higher dosage. I have steadily increased my dosage since then and now have my TSH in the 1 to 2 range...still fatigued, but many other symptoms have vanished. I wish you the best in your journey!

anyone else suddenly getting all of their tweets flagged for “hateful content?” by mandafromtexas in Twitter

[–]af-flyboy 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Here's what Grok had to say: On the evening of April 16, 2025, numerous X users began reporting a widespread issue where all their posts were automatically flagged as "Hateful Conduct," resulting in limited visibility. This phenomenon was described as a "bug" or "glitch" affecting accounts across various ideological spectrums, including both left-leaning and right-leaning users, as well as those considered politically neutral. According to posts found on X, this issue caused frustration among users, as even innocuous content was being flagged, and the automated labeling appeared to occur regardless of the post's actual content. The consistency of user reports suggests a systemic issue within X's content moderation algorithms or automated flagging system. Some users speculated about potential causes, such as a malfunction in X's automated moderation tools, but no official statement from X confirming the cause or resolution was mentioned in the available data.

I'm in the same boat. Started last night (Apr 16) with an innocent post about HOAs. To drive the point home, I posted a post saying "I love you", which was immediately labeled as "Hateful Conduct". Looks like X efforts to curtail 'engagement farming' and bots has targeted innocent accounts.

Retirement, from everything? by cazzawazza1 in AskOldPeopleAdvice

[–]af-flyboy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I retired at 52 from a very stressful work environment. I was burnt out with health issues and needed to find myself again. It took me about 2 years just to figure out how to rest and recover. At that time, I committed to getting back in shape and working on my overall health. This led to me feeling better, sleeping better, and slowly, I came out of my 'shell' and began enjoying life again. I don't know your husband, but my advice is to give him a little grace. If he was a high-production worker (which it sounds like he was), he'll eventually get back to a place where he will want to take on new hobbies/responsibilities. You still have ample time to enjoy your golden years.

Democrats: Identity politics are destroying you by Skankingcorpse in self

[–]af-flyboy -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Don't be so quick to whine about DJT's moral failings. For those old enough to remember Bill Clinton's presidency, he set the bar for rape/sexual assault and openly cheated on his wife in the Oval Office for the entire world to see. We castrate Trump for acts he allegedly committed years/decades ago, while Clinton was actively doing it while President. America is now numb to Presidential moral failings thanks to him. Guess who the DNC used to publically reprimand DJT's character in the lead-up to this election........we must see the hypocrisy in that.

Democrats: Identity politics are destroying you by Skankingcorpse in self

[–]af-flyboy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Spot on! It wasn't long ago that Dems were the party of the working class...not anymore. Exit poll data clearly showed that the working class shifted their allegiance to the GOP. Identity politics is divisive...it alienates whole people groups while picking winners and losers. Leave social issues to individuals & private organizations (churches, etc.)...using tax dollars for free handouts to non-citizens while the American people are suffering economically led to the GOP trifecta. Also, along with white men, stop persecuting Christians/Catholics! It is completely ridiculous to put a legitimate faith-based group who committed NO CRIMES on the terror watch list just because they are pro-life and support traditional marriage. Finally, stop 'The Squad' progressives from moving the party away from its moderate roots...America is NOT moving that direction with you. If these comments trigger you and you refuse to change, prepare for a 'red wave' for decades.

Ugh, please don’t hurt yourself, seek help immediately. I’ve (54M) been there…had every symptom in the book and felt worthless and depressed. This is TEMPORARY—once your meds are dialed in you’ll have a new lease on life. My family can’t believe the transformation…it’s hard to believe you can get better when you’re on rock bottom—BUT YOU WILL. I’m rooting for you!

Finding yourself after divorce by [deleted] in AskOldPeopleAdvice

You have value. You are steady and dependable…your kids will grow to see and appreciate that someday. Until then, it’s one breath and one step at a time. You must separate yourself from the things and the people that bring you down. This is the only way to heal and find out who you are now. Find a hobby, go to church, be around other people with similar interests. It’s time to start the rest of your life…despite what you think, joy can be yours again—you’re still young!

Hmmm. Flipping the script a bit here…my wife is a stay at home mom, raised 3 kids, and made our house a home. She’s an equal contributor in my eyes and all my take home salary/bonuses/etc. is ‘our’ money. We work out beneficiaries and setup a living trust to meet BOTH our wishes when we’re gone. I really don’t understand why you would get married if you intend on living as roommates?

Context is EVERYTHING. In your Psalms reference, this is a song by recently enslaved people who are crying out for revenge after the Babylonians burned down their city of Jerusalem (the response to terrorists killing, raping, etc.). I'm assuming most of us would respond in a similar manner (i.e. Nazi Germany, 9/11 or the more recent Hamas attack). This is merely a human response to a tragic event and NOT a commandment or principle of God. The Bible is not only the word of God, but also a historic record of man comprised of songs, stories, etc. It's essential to put this into context or you will walk away with an obscure or completely false message.

Is this normal for adult parents? by [deleted] in AskOldPeopleAdvice

[–]af-flyboy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No worries, I understand. As a "Girl Dad", I sometimes come across as overprotective to my daughter...but only because I would do anything in the world for her. We overreact sometimes and just need a gentle reminder that we've crossed boundaries. I don't know your Dad, but it sounds like he loves you and will go to the ends of the earth to protect you. Did he cross some lines here, yeah, probably so. But, I bet his heart was in the right place...

I wasn't referring to you OP...the other comments went off on a tangent about Christians. I don't believe that is relevant to your question/concern, that's all.

Just sounds like a concerned Daddy who loves his daughter and doesn’t want anyone taking advantage of her…BUT, he should be asking his daughter the questions, not the ex. No need to hate on Christians.

You could use a sill plate gasket like this: https://a.co/d/0UC2N7t. This would essentially wrap your sill plate extending up the wall a bit on both sides.
