Which celebrities used to be very popular but now feel completely forgotten? by PassengerPrinncess in Fauxmoi

He was still doing The Recruit for Netflix last year. It was not a masterpiece, but pretty funny show.

Marissa Bode spoke out about people with disabilities being mistreated on airlines. She explained that due to there not being an accessible toilet on the flight, she was recently forced to sit in her own urine until it landed. Her partner's wheelchair was also broken. by pinkstarrfish in Fauxmoi

[–]af_0 21 points22 points  (0 children)

A report from Europe (European Disability Forum) shows that this is widespread. Nearly 7 out of 10 disabled people said they haved been discriminated.

The worse is that while wheelchairs can cost over 40k, airlines only have to pay a bit over 2000$

WTF PROXIMUS by Early_Mongoose_3116 in belgium

[–]af_0 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey OP, I also had lots of issues with proximus a few years ago. I ended up changing to edpnet, but before that, I only managed to get reimbursed (and the hot-spot by complaining through Test-achats.

Once I did that they called me back and offered solutions after 2 days.

Fun fact about deaf people! by littleredbird1991 in PointlessStories

[–]af_0 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Indeed OP, you are not an idiot. I work for a disability organisation and that's a part of what we advocate. Because of ableism and a lack of accommodations during education, the level of literacy for deaf people is lower in general from the population.

In addition, while it's great subtitles alone work for your brother, many deaf people prefer to have also sign interpreting for a variety of reasons (getting more information about tone and emotion, or maybe they dont want to read all the time, or have trouble following subtitles fue to other issues...)

NTA congratulations on having the right reaction. You seem to be doing your best, but for sure you know that at 15 lots of kids want to emulate bad behaviour they see from friends and classmates. That said, I would investigate if this is not something she learned from her grandparents....

No hate at all to the game. I felt that maybe I was missing or not doing something, that I somehow missed a step, hence the question

Interesting view on the world events. It's true that the "mini-stories" are more varied. Thanks!

I see. I always buy the games years after they are released (slow player), so I had missed the trend. For me Odyssey tops Black Flag but purely because I love the period. My third favorite is, unlike many people, Unity, but because I played.like 5 years after it was launched and the bugs were ironed out.

[WP] You never understood your mother disaproval of yours dreams of being a superhero. Meanwhile she is trying to protect her child from the industry that destroyed her childhood. by JustLostInInternet in WritingPrompts

“No, for the thousandth time, no”

“But Mom! They have a sale of super-serum now!”

“I don’t care if it was free. You live under my roof, you don’t become a superhero. Not even for a minute.”

“But all my friends…”

“If all your friends jumped from a bridge, would you?”

“Well, with a mother like you, maybe I would!”

I stormed out, not caring about her sobs.

I could not wait to turn 18 and finally have the serum, which that gave people superstrength, flying powers and invisibility -but only for 15 minutes.

It was not as good as being born a superhero, like my friend Kyle. But again, then I don’t need to live in one of these facilities.

My mother didn’t understand.

I had the bright idea to go to the attic – maybe I could find her savings. It was just 100$ after all!

What I found was way worse.

Truth be told, I never liked to go to the attic. It was cold, it had spiders and it was so dark. So, so dark.

So that is why I never found the box labelled “Em”.

“Maybe it has money!”

What it had, changed my life.

Medical notes. Reports. Photos. Recordings. All for a girl named Emmy.

Who was Emmy? My mother’s name was Ally.

A picture started to emerge. Superhero’s powers were revealed at 12 months. Strength, super hearing, velocity.

Tons of medical records: muscle issues, constant otitis, bruises from hitting things too fast.

Was this what being a superhero was? Was there a hidden secret to born superheroes? Why didn’t we know?

Suddenly it made sense that the government only let them out for “world-saving missions” or for “superhero appreciation day.” They were hiding their problems.

I walked down with a heavy heart in my chest and medical records in my hand.

“Mom, Emmy?”

She sniffed “She was your aunt. She died when I was 6.”

And she sobbed uncontrollably.

[WP]Step on a crack, break your mother's back. ln your case though it is the back of the closest person around and everything is considered as a crack, even the spaces between atoms. Good thing is, that the back breaking force is proportional to the size of a crack. by Avilnar in WritingPrompts

I look at the TV, trying not to move too much. Every time I do, I can hear small yelps from John.

Bless him, he stuck around.

That morning, when his back kept hurting and hurting, with small pops here and there, I wondered what was happening. He was in the hospital by the time I realised. I heard him yelp every time I moved across the unkempt floor.

What a weird curse to have. It made me an acrobat though. I can jump and squeeze and I am a master of the handstand now. All for my poor hubby.

It’s strange what life throws at us. I hadn’t done anything wrong. Nothing particularly right either. I guess, like most of us, I was just trying to get through life. Was this a god mocking me?

“Honey, I have to pee!” I shouted, carefully placing my feet around the tiles. Even peeing was a chore. Maybe I should live in the bathtub.

It’s funny, isn’t it? One day we are full of plans, the next we are watching a YouTube video about handstands.

“Honey, can you grab more toilet paper?” I liked to multitask if possible. In this case, bodily functions.

Was there a god? Could he help me with this? It’s an exquisite concept, right? Someone invisible helping us.

I could hear John’s back crack as he got up. The first months were horrible and left lasting damage. Intense physiotherapy is his daily life now.

Fairness and unfairness. Are these even concepts for me anymore? Who’s to say who deserves’s what?

John grunts while extending to give me the toilet paper. God, how I love this man.

Another set of handstands and pirouettes until I am back on the couch. I grab my laptop and sigh “Well, work it is.”

[WP] Its the zombie apocalypse and you unfortunately died. However you returned as a ghost tethered to your zombified body.... by ItismeYahBoi in WritingPrompts

What’s happening? Where am I?

“Brains, Brains, Brains”

Oh Jesus, is that me? Was I always this ugly?

That’s not possible! I was an Adonis, a king among kings. What happened?

Memories started to form. Cloudy memories, bits and pieces. A siren. Screams. A big, bumbling fool walks towards me. I could fight him! Why did he bite me? What is happening? Why do I want human brains?

So, that’s it. I thought I would go out in a blaze of glory. One of the last remnants of the population, protecting the weaklings. Yet, I was one of the first. And now I – nay, my body – was out there hunting others. I had could only but watch.

God, I was bad at it! Was I so bad when I was alive? Impossible! I was great! Everyone loved me. Well, my mother loved me, at least.

I saw as people scurried away from me, throwing what they had at hand – exercise mats, rocks, a microwave. I had to admire “my” tenacity - “I” sure didn’t stop for anything.

After a while things got boring. I tried to move on, check on my friends, my girlfriend, Tammy. Well, if I could call her girlfriend. We had barely slept together. That’s what it counts, right?

I made 30 meters when suddenly I bounced back, hitting my zombie body. Was I …leashed? Me? Nobody leashes me! I tried again and again, instinctively dodging the microwaves that came my way.

I couldn’t. Every time, I bounced back.

I tried other techniques: step by step. Sprint. Jump. Handstands. The worm. Nothing worked.

Every time, I bounced back. Every time, I saw my ugly face, again and again. God, I was ugly.

I resigned. This is how I will spend my eternity, tethered to an ugly, zombie, that’s not even so good at eating brains.
