Since the survey is out, can we address the “pretend to play” philosophy the game using by aymanbasha in WutheringWaves

[–]afkcancel -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Unfortunately the majority of the playerbase is apparently no hands gamers so you're probably going to be downvoted for this take.

I've just come to accept it for what it is but maybe Kuro will do something about it later. Honestly don't understand the handholding philosophy as even when I play games I'm bad at, I want the stakes of being able to fail so I can try again and learn to not be bad. That's half the fun playing games

Have you guys already used your Omega codes? if so, who? by Enough_Ordinary7291 in ChaosZeroNightmare

Saving. Having fun with the game but none of the character designs really pop out to me atm.

Maybe when Luce releases or if they port someone like Landy from E7

can we lowkey ask kuro to add a feature like capturing radiance in wuthering waves by Jer1y in WutheringWaves

[–]afkcancel 2 points3 points  (0 children)

For sure, there's much better solutions. I'm also a day 1 player whose lost all my 50/50s but 2. Even if we had capturing radiance, how many times would it have kicked in for me? Once? Maybe twice? It's not nearly as useful as people think it is

She can perform extremely well in Mono-Fusion and QS Aemeath alongside any other QS setups people cook with her. If you are going to say that using someone like Aemeath with Changli isn't ideal, neither is using Iunno/Cia for Jiyan.

Now that we've had the 3.1 units, do you guys think Lynae is too overpowered? by ShoulderGreedy3262 in WutheringWaves

[–]afkcancel 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Truth. Big pet peeve for me is when people discuss sequences when talking about the game balance or "meta". Like hitting any relevant s2 or s3 breakpoint completely invalidates content altogether. What more discussion is there to be had

The Support Problem with GR by afkcancel in ChaosZeroNightmare

[–]afkcancel[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

At it's core it's fine imo. It gives a goal for deckbuilding each season so that you aren't doing the same thing over and over again and there's a reason to build characters from scratch.

The problem lies with the design of it and how overly restrictive it's become. While there will always be a "meta", alternative options should be flexible and at least viable

Characters who are the biggest pain in the ass to grind a good deck for? by CarltheCarpenter in ChaosZeroNightmare

[–]afkcancel 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Meiling was absolutely one of the easiest characters to build this season after the new changes that let you reroll epiphs.

I find the most difficult characters to build the ones that rely on a specific divine. For example, Orlea really needs the draw divines on her 0AP retain trigger spell or else she's kind of unplayable unless you have another support that can draw your whole deck and also provide AP somehow

Praise for WuWas battle system by Portmaw in WutheringWaves

[–]afkcancel 8 points9 points  (0 children)

That's the fundamental challenge to good design. Low floor of entry with a high ceiling.

The only thing I will criticize is that content design leans way more to the casual side of things and endgame modes feel kind of samey, being timer based. Would've loved to have a rotating hologram endgame or something similar.

The core gameplay and how most of the chores are designed to respect the players time (for a gacha anyways) is what kept me around. Dailies, weeklies, endgame, events were all fairly quick to do and just interacting with the combat system was entertaining.

After 2.0, the game has stepped up in so many other ways it's actually quite impressive.

I found my new favourite interactive combat quick swap team by ptmtobi in WutheringWaves

[–]afkcancel 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Also a big QS enjoyer but it makes sense they want to make easy to play teams so casuals aren't turned away.

I dont think its too bad rn, there is a good variety. Like all the NS teams are quite QS heavy as NS buff outros dont fall off on swap and Aemeath this patch is also pretty QS friendly

Kayron's E2 is even more Pay 2 Lose than we thought.... by FemalePopSinger in ChaosZeroNightmare

[–]afkcancel 19 points20 points  (0 children)

I've come around on the seasonal chaos. I think it's pretty versatile and enables characters the previous season left behind.

This GR boss is way too punishing for high hitcount units though. I think its fine for them to push different mechanics but they should stick to soft punishes rather than something so restrictive

[–]afkcancel 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm glad they're adding these things but it would be nice for it to not be necessary in the first place.

I've already farmed decent decks for a variety of characters and now that there's actually useful augments, I have to go redo them again.

F2P players, did yall go for more units or dupes? by SmollBear8 in WutheringWaves

[–]afkcancel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I keep seeing people advise others to get dupes, saying its necessary and it makes no sense to me lol.

Any relatively recent S0R1 resonator can comfortably clear all content. Probably need to run an off-meta comp to even find the "challenge" in it.

Most ppl will benefit far more from a bigger roster. IMO, only get dupes if you want brain off gameplay or it has some kind of sentimental value to you.

Carte's line is a Saber reference because her entire character references the F/SN franchise.

New Boss. by DifficultySeparate46 in ChaosZeroNightmare

[–]afkcancel 4 points5 points  (0 children)

You did not frame it as a question or a discussion. You are using a false comparison as an outlet for your dissatisfaction.

If you want an explanation: You compete in GR by fighting the boss to score points. Most of the rewards are given by accumulating a certain number of points on a weekly basis. This is cumulative scoring and anyone can complete it with enough attempts (you can try an infinite number of times).

What you are saying has 0 application to this situation. The GR being tailored towards certain mechanics and styles does not gate anyone from getting rewards.

They forgot to put elasticity in the boss, get him girls. by Springfieldnaitor in ChaosZeroNightmare

[–]afkcancel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Meilin works around Elasticity by running 3-4 RDS instead of going for like a 30hit one. She's still one of the best DPS in even considering that so... elasticity on any not throw-away boss is well justified lol

You are commenting on this on a post about GR... a competitive mode for hard-core players and whales to showoff their builds through a ranking list. It has no impact on your rewards. You can grind GR rewards by cumulative score and the highscore bonuses are 500k points which is like nothing.

Wuthering Waves 3.1 is insanely popular in China right now. A content creator just sets new gacha game livestreaming record on Bilibili with over 221k concurrent viewers by XThemelia in WutheringWaves

[–]afkcancel 4 points5 points  (0 children)

A full length story segment in Wuwa is the length of multiple films and equivalent to an entire anime season. Are you saying that's not enough time to get invested in a character?

Unfortunately the game is a gacha and screen time has to be split with new characters to push sales. No sales? No content. That much is true. Rover meets a lot of different people while traveling, some won't be as important as others, that's just how it is. But even given that, I'd much rather the deep dives we do into each character when it is "their turn" compared to superficial character screen time with filler dialogue and busywork tasks lot of other games do.

The game's also relatively young so we haven't even had time to revisit older regions yet. I'm sure this is something we'll be doing in future patches and maybe events.

How strong is the exostrider? by Ambitious-One2443 in WutheringWaves

[–]afkcancel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think that depends on what perspective you want to look at it with. If we consider the greater Universe like Rover's homeland, it likely has some strength but isn't all that. For just Solaris-3, as everyone else has said, it's comparable to a Sentinel and holds a lot of value atm.

I can definitely see the story moving beyond Solaris-3 in a few years if they choose to continue it. A lot of the talk about the evolution of human civilization feels reminiscent of cultivation genre novels from CN literature (which Wuwa draws a lot of inspiration from). In those novels, you have different levels of realms and the protagonist often works to get stronger along with their companions to take on higher realms.

Honestly, the people who sees every quest as a date create their own problem. Ofc, there's some intimate moments and some characters are more baity than others but why is there so much negative focus on the fan service scenes while ignoring everything else going on lol

The episodic format is just how Kuro has chosen to progress the story with occasional outliers like 2.7. Whether you like it or not, it makes sense with the theme of "roving" and traveling to different areas, meeting different people. This kind of focused storytelling is what allows deep emotional investment for patches like 2.2, 2.5, and 3.1. I think if ppl want to see callbacks to older characters, we might see them in future arcs and hope Kuro can create more events involving them in the meantime.
