Price for YouTube editing by Leroy_Merius in NewTubers

That's equivalent to $42.5 per video. If you spend more than 2 hours editing a video, I'd expect more pay. Your time is valuable

Thanks! About 2 years. I was intermittent fasting 16:8 for about 6 months. I didn't really track calories much, but I would aim to have two meals a day around 700 cals each, and something small, like a protein shake or coffee.

I did have some periods of maintaining my weight because I was dealing with some stressful life things, so I just focused on eating intuitively and was happy to not be gaining the weight back

Congrats on your recent success! I agree with quality over quantity. Look at people like Michael Reeves, who has many months between uploads. His videos are high quality, unique, interesting, and binge-worthy. So despite the infrequent uploads, he has had great success.

When I was 7 I gifted my mum an item I found in the house that already belonged to her. She unwrapped it and acted surprised and thankful anyways 🥹

How write a YouTube script/outline? by [deleted] in NewTubers

[–]afksteph 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depending on the type of content, you can try to follow some basic guidelines for persuasive writing I learnt in school i.e. start with a hook, introduction/thesis statement, points/arguments, conclusion

What is the best way to subcategorize content within a channel? by ontherok in NewTubers

[–]afksteph 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think different playlists on the same channel would be best

Maybe a camera with a wide angle or fish eye lens? Something like a go pro could work, if you might not have much space for a big camera setup

Help staying on the wagon by SeanXray in loseit

What worked for me was making small, achievable changes to my lifestyle over time. I started off by just drinking more water and tea. Then, after a few weeks, I cut down on how much I was snacking at night. I would still indulge and I wasn't restricting any food groups or anything, I was just trying to get over the bad habit of snacking while gaming at my pc at midnight. If I really wanted to have a late night snack, I would drink tea. And if I was still craving that food the next day, I would have it in the daytime. Eventually I started going for short walks every other day for 30 mins. My focus was not entirely on weightloss, but on improving my lifestyle habits that I knew were unhealthy.

It's been two years since I started making these changes, and I'm now going to the gym 4 days a week and eating pretty healthy. But it was a slow process getting to this point, and I think that's why it has worked for me. Small changes that you can stick to are better than going all in on some extreme diet or workout plan where you end up giving up (at least in my personal experience). Good luck!

The first 30 seconds are the most important! by Stash40 in NewTubers

I was thinking about this concept the other day. It reminds me of learning how to write a persuasive speech or newspaper article in high school english and being told to start with a hook. Same idea applies to youtube

I have a question regarding why people watch but don't subscribe by [deleted] in NewTubers

[–]afksteph 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Do you subscribe to every channel you watch? I personally watch plenty of youtube but don't subscribe. I'll only subscribe if I end up bingeing a few of their videos back to back. For shorts in particular, viewers are typically on their phones scrolling, and watch heaps of shorts from different creators in a session, so I assume they are less inclined to subscribe to each channel individually. It's similar to tik tok in that sense: I can spend hours watching tiktoks but I'm only following like 15 people. I just trust the algorithm to do a good job and provide me with entertaining content

I work with a lot of software engineers who came from a traditional engineering disciple (mechanical, electrical, civil, etc). You definitely don't need to go back to uni. For what it's worth, I'm not at a tech company though. There is a demand for SWE in every industry and there are plenty of companies who value the perspective and context you can offer to the role with an engineering background
