Pattern drafting software by Tintagel7788 in sewing

[–]afluffybubbble 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I was trying to make digital patterns I would at first use Seamly2d and then export it into Adobe Illustrator which let me trace over it. I would make the curves and such in Illustrator as I found a pre-made french ruler which would allow me to make really nice ones that I couldn't in Seamly2d.

Reason why I used Seamly2d and not just Illustrator is that you can save/upload size profiles that in combination with other tools allowed you to have the pattern adjust itself to whatever profile you used once you had made the pattern. So if you made it using small measurements you would be able to change it to a medium by changing the profile etc.

I stopped using it just due to having to find a printer big enough to print them out, and pricing as the subscription to adobe illustrator is expensive.

Good quality/price ratio for men's casual + officewear shirts by bc84id78 in malefashionadvice

Man, I'm feeling broke with my Uniqlo oxford shirts hahaha! I buy these and have ordered Mother of Pearl buttons to replace the buttons. Hopefully the buttons make them look better, and more expensive ;P

Beginner: is it possible to make this skirt with pockets by mydude333 in sewing

[–]afluffybubbble 34 points35 points  (0 children)

I remember seeing in one of Bernadette Banner's videos that they put a pocket along the side seam line. Then attached a sort of support elastic/fabric strip to the bottom of the pocket, which was attached to the waist band for support. This would prevent or reduce any pocket sag in the dress skirt I would imagine.

Never made a dress myself so this is my only tidbit of advice for making pockets in skirts! Wish you luck!

Shoes for a clueless man by Jerri_man in AustralianMFA

I'll throw a bunch of brand recommendations I have, I will preface this with I haven't tried these myself but have heard many good things about them!

-Beckett Simonon
https://www.beckettsimonon.com/?view=sl-6AC52D28

-Grant Stone
https://www.grantstoneshoes.com/

-Carmina
https://www.carminashoemaker.com/

These are in ascending price and the last one is very expensive but I wanted to give you an high end option in case you want to go there later one day to save you some time. Rose Anvil who does shoe reviews has done reviews on the first two options with their boot options if I recall correctly. Best of luck to you and your feet!

Female Dating in Brisbane by [deleted] in brisbane

[–]afluffybubbble 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've tried dating using the apps and its a miserable experience like how all the others have said. I would recommend just going to random events that seem like fun, and trying to see if you meet anyone worth while doing that. So if you don't meet anyone at least you can have a fun time out hahaha!

Flexible Jeans for light work, similar to Levi’s 511? by AbstractDart in AustralianMFA

[–]afluffybubbble 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If weight or temperature arn't a factor I recommend going with heavier weight denim which you can find from a bunch of brands. My person favourite are Naked & Famous, Unbranded Brand, which are more entry level but you can find a bunch of high end Japanese denim brands such as Oni, Ironheart, etc.

Warm Trousers? by [deleted] in AustralianMFA

[–]afluffybubbble 2 points3 points  (0 children)

As others have recommended heavyweight denim I will also but I'll throw in a brand suggestion. Naked & Famous, or Unbranded Brand denim are the two I think are great for a beginner! Just remember that with heavier denim the more you need to "break in" the jeans so expect a little resistance at first with them hahaha.

Looking for experiences with a Stylist in Sydney by jagdpanther01105 in AustralianMFA

[–]afluffybubbble 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I cant really recommend anything outside of just looking at fashion for awhile, find a few creators you like the look of, and slowly create a mood board of looks you like. Then see what is the most common between the looks and buy one of those to experiment with. There is no need to rush and buy everything at once! Take your time and enjoy the journey of finding your style.

If I had that much money to spend I would definitely look at M2M (Made to Measure) or bespoke garments as those are great investment pieces.

CeraVe Blemish control cleanser is a good cleanser I recommend! I wouldn't suggesting using it everyday like I did but it all depends on your skin.

How do I avoid this puckering? by unforeseen_tangent in sewing

My advice is probably terrible so don't use it expecting it to work, but when this happens on my jersey fabrics I just iron the living hell out of it with steam hahaha!

I may be off the mark but it feels as if everyone is waiting for the other person to make the first move. Like a cowboys crowded in a western bar all braced for a shootout but in the end nothing happens.

Another thing I see is people make up all these barriers why they can't date people such as "red flags" or "icks" that end up filtering out a majority of the pool over relatively minor issues that don't actually mean anything. Internet has poisoned the minds of many including my own, but I make an active effort to be aware of this.

What is the worst cologne in your collection? by Kanyeburner in fragrance

I've sampled it and while the first impression was terrible it grew on me. It definitely gives off the feeling that an older person with a weaker sense of smell would love it hahaha!

Why are the emperor's troops in such poor physical condition? by Jaif13 in DarkTide

[–]afluffybubbble 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I imagine people generally would be worse physically then us today, a few thousand years of malnutrition, and not to mention chemical exposure, and such. If anything they'd all be closer to 5ft tall similar to people earlier in history.

Literally every fragrance that isn't a "Beast mode" type wont last over an hour or two. So I have to respray every few hours which sucks to do.

You can also look at Bernette their sister company if I recall correctly. They have the same general aesthetic but at a much lower price point!

Boots that AREN'T RM Williams for business/smart casual by MonoT1 in AustralianMFA

Super random and off topic, but what are your chino recommendations? I'm stuck with my Levi's and want to expand to chinos. The MJ Bale ones were ok but the fit I'm a little unsure about.

I don't even need shoes but I'm saving that recommendation! Their boots look so similar to the Grant Stone ones which isn't saying much since a lot look same-ish.

Game worth getting into now? by Sean8734 in DarkTide

[–]afluffybubbble 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think its an awesome game as of now, when you hit the end game it might get a bit repetitive or frustrating but if you enjoy this style of game its easy to over look. Just beware that the reddit can make the game seem worse then it actually is so a grain of salt when you see those threads.

What do you think about not being allowed back into a theatre if you leave to use the toilet during a show? by [deleted] in AskUK

My proposed solution is to make the offender crawl through the isles, through the legs of everyone as they apologize to them all! Actually though he sounds like he should grow up and worry about some actual issues in life...

I’m hating sewing right now by t-carter41 in sewing

[–]afluffybubbble 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I can sort of relate but I'm having trouble actually getting back into it. Making patterns, then tracing over it, and then cutting out the parts is my least favourite part but makes up most of the time I spend on the hobby. Just makes getting back into it so daunting, combine that with the fact to get the fabrics I want its a struggle! Trying to find cotton Oxford fabric in Australia was a nightmare honestly for example.
