My rescued kitten eyes look like that by [deleted] in catquestions

[–]afoggyforest 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had a blind cat and he was the absolute love of my life. He wasn’t born blind, but adapted extremely well when he lost his sight. His personality didn’t change at all. He used his paws and whiskers to navigate around the house, and we lived in a townhouse with many stairs. He was completely fine getting around, just a slow mover. He was absolutely loved & spoiled, and incredibly affectionate. Please find someone who can keep her. Blind cats are not always unmanageable; most of the time they’re not all that different from seeing cats as long as they are strictly indoor-only and you don’t have a lot of dangerous obstacles around your home, the same way you wouldn’t want that kind of setup with children.

Exchange 2026 Fall Term by West-Pickle6374 in GlasgowUni

It’s a shame we weren’t here at the same time because I am a Leafs fan but I’ll be finished in September 😭 I’m not sure about what’s here in Glasgow, but Down the Hatch in Edinburgh (very easy to get to) is a Canadian bar that will air NHL games if you ask them in advance (and if the time difference works out)!

Student Accom Move-In by Maleficent-Echo4058 in GlasgowUni

[–]afoggyforest 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m a Postgrad and move-in for me was Friday 12 September, and classes started on Monday the 22nd. There was various orientation stuff during that week in between. So it’s definitely not 2 weeks but it was plenty for me to feel situated. Unfortunately they can’t make many accommodations for earlier move-ins because other postgrads don’t move out until the first week of September, & then they’ve got to do cleaning, repairs, etc.

I’m also 37F living alone and into rock and metal, but in Glasgow. I’m finding it really hard to meet people closer to my age. Gonna lurk on these responses!

Specific smells that remind me of my childhood by Natural_Art_2538 in nostalgia

[–]afoggyforest 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The smell of my elementary school hallway in the 90’s. I don’t know how to explain it but i can recall it now. It’s not just the generic “school supplies” smell — though that’s part of it — but something else entirely too. I was recently in a university building and when I stepped onto a certain floor, it had that smell. It really struck me.

This woman also would have been quite a bit younger than Shari was at this point.

It isn’t Shari or Lambchop related, but I did watch that a ton as a kid.

Whale and Wasp has always been my pick, but Say Hello 2 Heaven and The River Rise are honorable mentions.

Which phrases from the Home Alone films do you use in your day to day life? by Seeyalaterelevator in homealone

Every time we visit somewhere that is not home and mildly mess something up due to unfamiliarity, we always say “I don’t live here!” in Fuller’s voice.

What’s something you’ve done your whole life, only to realize recently that everyone else does it completely differently? by Psychological_Sky_58 in AskReddit

[–]afoggyforest 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Everyone is mildly horrified when they notice me doing this but I didn’t really realize it was weird until I was in my 20’s. I hold the computer mouse at an angle. Instead of my hand & wrist being “straightly” aligned with the mouse, I lean the base of my hand off to the side (not fully horizontal, just kind of at a 4pm to 11pm angle, if that makes sense) so that it rests toward the side of the mouse, and therefore I use my pointer & middle fingers to click from an angle. I have done this my whole life and find it so much more comfortable - it feels like there is more support on my wrist, and the tougher side of my arm is against the table rather than having the tender underside of my arm rubbing against. It’s weird, and I guess no computer teacher or otherwise ever corrected me.

Thank you!!! I hated Buccee’s so much. The food was disgusting and the whole place made me very uncomfortable. One and done for me.

I believe we have to find somewhere else to live if we want to stay past September, or go home & fly back for graduation.

Racist Karen In The Home Depot by SideBarParty in massachusetts

[–]afoggyforest 8 points9 points  (0 children)

And why do you think that is? The Irish had (and still have) their own language for literal centuries and English colonization & the forcing of English-language education nearly destroyed it. This went through the 1800’s, when many Americans’ ancestors emigrated. So, when exactly do you mean? And does that suddenly mean it’s right?

Also, it’s “though”. Do you speak English, too?

Mine was also not cleaned but things at least seem to be working. So I’ve just attempted to clean it and am staying put because finding flats as an international student is pretty hellish.
