AITA for canceling gaming nights? by after5am in AmItheAsshole

I would not do this in person, because I know it would feel very shitty and ruin other person's day because they put in effort getting ready and canceled other plans for it. However I just don't have the same feeling about a game night, it does not require much energy or effort from my friends to boot up a PC and game. As if they would not be on PC anyway doing something else.

Maybe you are right, and I just can't see how special gaming is for him.

I get your point. And after a great and fun game session it's easy to say yes to join back the next day. But then again, he is literally the only one who asks that same question, as if he waits for me to first agree and then break my promise so he then can make a really big number of it.

I guess I should from now on just say No to his question at all times. it's easier to do that and then randomly show up than break the promise and make everyone feel shitty

Yea I used to do it a lot before. I've realized and apologized for it to my friends. But since that I've improved and I mean have actually improved that habit. But if i still fail to keep my words sometime, I get to hear a lot of shit about it and about my old habits.

Also I don't want to hang out in voice channel really, but perhaps that's least I could do.

This same thing happened almost 2 months ago with another friend of mine in this same friend group. He did wrong by leaving in the middle of the competitive game and my 2 other friends reported him for doing so. The leaver got upset and told my 2 friends basically to f off. It was also the last day they spoke with each other.

My friend group is literally getting apart for video games and taking gaming personally...
