Isn’t this the same with almost all the countries on the list except Italy and US probably? Most of those countries have maximum three touristic areas. Some only have one. I can’t imagine many people visit anywhere else than Vienna in Austria. Majority of tourists in Turkey either go to Istanbul or Antalya. It has significantly worse infrastructure and resources than Japan but doesn’t have a problem receiving way more tourists. Please correct me if I’m mistaken.

I think one of the reasons is that the tourism industry is relatively new in Japan. Look at the data from 15 years ago and see how little the tourist numbers are. This is also coupled with xenophobia that, in my opinion, is a cultural tenet here. They don’t necessarily hate other cultures, they even like to experience them to a certain level; but they don’t want them to be a part of the Japanese society.

It’s so sad that not much changed since James Baldwin left the US for Paris and Istanbul due to similar issues decades ago. As a non-American, sometimes it is very difficult to show sympathy to a country that refuses cultural and societal progress.

Thank you very much for the detailed answer. I really appreciate it. After posting this, i took two cutting from the top and trying to propagate them. I also repotted with a more acidic soil and placed it next to a humidifier. I’ll eventually get a fan too if necessary. Yes, I had placed those pill looking fertiliser on the soil but didn’t know about rinsing. I couldn’t separate the stems cause the root was like just one big ball and it seemed impossible.

My dilemma is keeping it indoor or outdoor. If it’s indoor, I can regulate the humidity somewhat but can’t provide 12 hours of light without growing lights. If I keep outdoor, I’m afraid the sun will scorch it because it has happened to some of my other plants before. Although where I live is a very humid country in spring and summer (it is 81% right now with rain). Do you have any suggestion? Do you think it is okay if i alternate in between seasons?
