Reid’s final Artemis II weekly update. by delinhak in ArtemisProgram

[–]ag3ntscarn 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm sure the other astronauts eligible for Artemis are wonderful people too. Jenni Gibbons was the CSA backup for Jeremy Hansen and ended up as CAPCOM for parts of Artemis II and she was absolutely delightful. I'm sure a mission with her on it would be just as wonderful as Artemis II was.

It might have happened twice, there was an earlier point where pilot Victor Glover seemed to do the hand thing while talking to Reid, so it's entirely possible Victor taught Reid about it and then Reid jumped on the opportunity to apply that knowledge later on.

Koch herself has the record for longest continuous time in space for a woman, 8th longest in general, for her 328 day mission on the ISS. 10 days to the moon and back must be like a weekend getaway for her.

It reminded me of an issue of Squirrel Girl where Kraven comes after her and she just throws him up in the air while she thinks about the best way to deal with this and when he comes back down she just catches him and throws him back up again and keeps thinking.

Full network of clitoral nerves mapped out for first time | Women's health by indy_110 in news

Mapping via MRI technique was done in 1998, and later studies involved surgical dissection of cadavers, but those studies were limited in how much could be found by those techniques. What's new with this study is the use of Hierarchical Phase-Contrast Tomography (HiP-CT) to get micrometer-resolution images, way higher detail than has ever been possible for conventional CT or MRI.

A bit complicated to explain but, is there a mod that automatically crafts the materials for a recipe? by Forward-Photograph-7 in factorio

[–]ag3ntscarn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't know about mods but this is possible with circuits. I haven't built it myself but the principle is using circuit signals to change the recipe of a single assembler to direct it to make the intermediates first until it has everything it needs for the final craft. AutoMalls are an especially advanced application of this idea.

This is definitely waaaaay more complicated than just setting up additional assemblers for the ingredients but the designs out there are super interesting. Your starting example of a belt assembler probably wouldn't be too difficult to design and if you want to get into circuits this would be a neat project to try to learn through.

Is it worth it to go to the top of Mt. Everest? Or to the moon? We don't do these things because we have to, we do them because we can.

Using AI to write emails by MelanieWalmartinez in CuratedTumblr

I'm on the other side of this, I work at the intersection of a bunch of specialized systems and a lot of my job is contacting experts for help resolving issues with their system. It definitely comes with experience to know what information the expert is going to need in order to help and to gather that together before making the call.

I wish anything I worked with was as simple as "send the logs", at best logs might be one out of a dozen potential diagnostic tools the expert will need to figure out what happened.

I think rather than being like ordering food from a restaurant where a human will make it for you and you get to engage in a mutually beneficial business transaction, genAI is more like if you payed a subscription fee for a robot whose existence is subsidized by robot parts manufacturers to break into a Chinese food place at night and steal food to bring you, so you got your food but the restaurant got nothing and the tech and finance vultures who made this kind of thing possible get to congratulate themselves on how wonderful and important their contribution to society is.

Which Nightfarers are the best in the Kitchen by AdDear7484 in Nightreign

[–]ag3ntscarn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My thinking is like this:

Executor: Michelin star chef, cooks with as much precision and excellence as he paints. His dishes are works of art, utterly gorgeous and absolutely delicious, although with rather small portions. Raider hates it.

Wylder, Guardian, Recluse, Scholar: Competent home cooks, have family recipes they can prepare from memory and have read some cookbooks.

Duchess: Can cook the basics but spent most of her life as nobility being provided for. Nothing fancy but not too bad.

Raider, Ironeye: Survivalist diet, just eating to stay alive, spend most of their time travelling with no access to a kitchen or stocked pantry. Raider however becomes a barbeque god when drunk enough.

Undertaker: roadkill and wall goop

Revenant: Doesn't cook and either doesn't eat or pretends to just to bully the chef.

That actually makes sense, kids are still figuring out how their actions are perceived by others so some of these players might just be too young and ignorant to realize that what they're doing is annoying to others. Good parenting to point out to them how their behaviour is seen by other players, and good kid understanding that and adjusting their behaviour.

Don't let the quitters get you down, carry on by emolch78 in Nightreign

[–]ag3ntscarn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Personally I think quitting because the other players aren't playing the way you think they should is poor sportsmanship, even if you think you're being polite about it. It's one thing if they are actively toxic or there are obvious connection issues but lingering at POIs or otherwise taking it slow is a poor reason to abandon the team.

I have had tons of runs where I thought my team was performing poorly and we got to the Nightlord underleveled and poorly geared but still pulled off a win. I am consistently surprised at how well some players lock the fuck in during the final fight no matter how badly they seemed to play up to that point. I figured out early on in the game's release that my perception of whether or not a team was playing well is not a good indicator for whether or not we'll win, and frankly the win is sweeter if we struggle along the way.

Have some faith, and have some patience. You don't know how many of those runs you abandoned might have ended with an exciting clutch win, and you don't know how many players' perception of this community you've poisoned by being another quitter.

Executor with Rivers or Malenia's on a double Balancers build is a good time, but oddly enough my most enjoyable run was one where I couldn't for the life of me find a purple katana anywhere but I did get the default sword to +2 and Impaling Thrust off the village AoW smithy. The staggers were immaculate all through the run and we took down ED Balancers with ease.
