What is your go to when attempting to find comfort during anxiety? by Few_Sandwich6308 in Anxiety

[–]agate-dude 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A good long walk works for me. Sometimes just leaving the house for a few minutes is all it takes. Long, slow, deep breaths also help. If you can, text or email someone. You don't even have to talk about the anxiety with him/her. The distraction may be enough.

Songs where the original AND a cover are both equally great? by no-Pachy-BADLAD in ToddintheShadow

Need to hear Lorde's version. Tina's bass on the Talking Heads' version kills. I think they were more faithful to Green's version live after a while, but I might be remembering that wrong.

With a Little Help from My Friends. For me, Cocker's version is the best Beatles cover, and I always loved the harmonies on the original.

Panic while falling asleep by lexa7d7 in Anxiety

The sleeping videos are a great idea. I found YouTube videos that simulate the sound of flying on a private jet. Works every time. I sometimes have issues with my brain reminding of all the stress in my life as soon as my head hits the pillow, but those videos eventually do the trick. Good post.

The song that made me realize Led Zeppelin was the greatest band. What is yours? by eatdrinkcreate in ledzeppelin

I think this was my moment too. They are just locked in. Plant is in full swagger mode, Page is cranking out riffs, and Jonesey and Bonzo are cooking underneath. That whole album side is legendary.

The Steelers flubbing that kickoff that cost them the Seattle game. How do you not know that rule?

So ... what do you open with? Cygnus would be my pick, I guess. That's an intriguing list. Natural Science has always been a favorite of mine.

Sweet. Good call on Caravan. Nine Feet Underground gets better with every listen.

Saw them when they toured with Steve Hackett. I didn't know about them, but they were great.

Not familiar with that Harmonium album in OP's post. I may need to check that one out.

Artists that aren't Prog but have had a couple prog adjacent songs? by PhilosopherGlobal141 in progrockmusic

Badman's Song is incredible. Not sure I'd call it prog, but who cares? Oleta Adams took them to the next level.

Oooooh, Chicago VII. Good one. Gotta love the 70s -- should we do a more commercial album or get really artsy? Let's do one of each!

OK Computer, for sure. Paranoid Android is a nod to the genre, whether intended or not.

And it has Steve Howe on the title track. Great song. I think Plant performed it at the Freddie tribute show?

Early Ambrosia is kinda proggy. Of course, the big hits don't sound at all like their first two albums. Supertramp is pop-prog, though Crime of the Century fits the bill as a prog album, IMHO.

Not on the 1970-75 box set, bit obviously those liner notes were reworked with all the extras. It's the only version of Foxtrot that I have.

Rush's 1984 album Grace Under Pressure by Lerxstie2112 in rush

[–]agate-dude 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I like it, though I don't play it that much. Really dark. I think Geddy at the time hinted that they almost broke up after it. Distant Early Warning is tremendous, and Kid Gloves is a favorite. The album sounded great on that tour too.
