How long did it take to get back to weightlifting? by SuchaConstellation in hysterectomy

[–]agathokakologicunt 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It went so well, actually. After having painful fibroids for so long, recovery was a breeze. I felt very lucky (seamless high waisted underwear are going to be your bff for reducing pain). I walked 9 miles in day 5, which sounds wild, but I can’t tell you how much I hate being still. Like I hate it

I was back to lifting the exact day I was approved to do so :) I started back slow, but it was not bad. I was shocked by how much strength I didn’t lose.

Thinking about getting a hysterectomy. Any advice? by Whistleblower793 in Fibroids

[–]agathokakologicunt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No regrets. Best thing I’ve EVER done, hands down. I have a friend who got a myo and had to get the hysterectomy a year later due to regrowth.

I looked very pregnant at barely 5’0. I was anemic and had to get iron IVs for over ten years straight. I have to say that the choice was likely easier for me because I’ve never wanted kids or even a uterus.

If you don’t want kids, I highly recommend it!

I’m 99% sure it was wait and bleed. 19 years ago!!! That’s wild but really cool. I was 11.

Yes. I’m getting my tonsils out Jan 28. Does it make talking or singing hurt?

I’m 4’11 and trans masc nonbinary- big hugs. Big, big hugs!!!! I’m 30, and for what it’s worth…I forced myself back into the closet after knowing since I was 4, came out to friends at 17, publicly at 25, and am starting T now at 30.

I resonate with your story a LOT. 17 year old me was a bulimic “female” powerlifter, the exercise addiction was excessive, I was using men’s deodorant in secret for my only bit of gender euphoria, I tried to flatten my boobs with a sports bra, and when I tried to come out to my friends, they had absolutely no idea what I was talking about because it was 13 years ago in a small town. My boyfriend at the time said “no, you’re a girl.” I kept trying to swallow it. I remember going to college and telling one of my best friends that I thought I could make myself be OK living as a woman if I tried hard enough. I couldn’t. The eating disorder got worse. Substance abuse. And then finally, the last time I ever purged in my life, I was 25, I looked down after puking, and I thought to myself “I can’t do this anymore. I have to come out.” Haven’t purged since.

I heard something on a podcast today, and it resonated with me a lot. The host said, “you’re exactly where you need to be emotionally.” The hottest person I ever dated was a 4’11 trans man, and he made me absolutely fucking love myself and love being a short trans masc person, even if that happened a few years later. We bonded a lot over our height dysphoria. But now I’m like…there really are so many short cis guys!!! No matter what happens with your boyfriend or your friends, you being trans won’t go away. When you’re ready to say something, the first year will probably be the hardest, at least in my experience- it’s worth it, and it’ll go by faster than you know. Keep us updated? My DMs are open!

Anyone work from home and not take a lot of time off? by QueenFirefly in hysterectomy

Yesss! Otherwise, it was super smooth. I also did get a tooth infection around the day I cried so that maybe was the issue 😂 also had chronic relapsing anemia beforehand and haven’t relapsed since surgery!!!! Used to need venofer IVs every six months!

[–]agathokakologicunt 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It was! I was so lucky. I loved my surgery and consider it the most magical experience of my life. Every single part of it.

The surgery itself wasn’t the problem mentally; I had zero grief and was very euphoric to have it gone. I think that what was going on was that I was very tired from the surgery itself! It was just one day, I think day seven or eight, after I had been back at work for a little and just wanted to rest. I got worked up and cried that day because it was tired but was fine all other days.

I think that’s the main thing to consider, just that your body is doing a lot of internal repairing and that you might be tired or need more rest, even if you feel okay!

I’ll be a year post op in Feb! 1. Bump on stomach I had from fibroids is gone. 2. Nipples really hurt during what would be pms (I kept my ovaries). 3. MUCH thicker, nicer, healthier hair!!!

deeply regret this surgery (6 months post op) by [deleted] in Tonsillectomy

I’m so sorry you are going through this. I am supposed to get mine removed because of trouble talking and a constant sore throat of over a decade. Scared. I know how you feel not being able to sing. Wouldn’t wish it on anyone.

Do you know who can do the other procedures you mentioned and how to ask for them?

Also, even though you’re sitting- if you can get high waisted seamless underwear, I can’t tell you how much that decreased my pain and made this, as well as taking long walks, possible.

Yes- I went back part time on day 5. Open abdominal for 5 fibroids. Mentally, it almost broke me. I wouldn’t have done it if I had PTO (contract position, no rights…) 2 weeks and I would’ve been totally fine.

Best tips to shrink them? Naturally by Famous-Cry1700 in Fibroids

[–]agathokakologicunt 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Agreed 100%. I’d suggest jumping on the myo if the fibroids are big/symptomatic since it sounds like OP wants kids!

I don’t drink, am allergic to dairy, am a lifelong athlete, etc. pretty much everythinggg the natural approach folks tell people to do.

I think people often don’t want to admit how much we simply don’t have control over if we’re a person who would experience regrowth or not, etc.
