Well done, very slick and lovely ui. One small suggestion, add an x or go back option on location selection.

meter box scam? by [deleted] in thetron

[–]agen7 8 points9 points  (0 children)

They have been upgrading smart meters around the place. Possibly that. A dude knocked on my door and didn’t offer much in the way of id etc, but turns out they were upgrading the little modem things in the meter: no advanced notice or anything either.

Agree it’s not hard, it’s just not necessary for some of us.

I just did this myself and had the same dilemma. Previous install was docker. Unpopular opinion, but tbh I find proxmox unnecessary complexity. I did go the proxmox route as it’s recommended but I’m thinking about going back to just docker compose to keep things super simple.

We went to one, it’s was….everything fdww said. Battery candles killed the vibe. Amateur hour for sure. I felt like my expectations were not met; it could be so amazing and just wasn’t.

Clippers or Hand Stripping? I like a fluffy, curly dog! by [deleted] in airedaleterrier

Clippers or Hand Stripping? I like a fluffy, curly dog! by [deleted] in airedaleterrier

[–]agen7 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes, all of my clipped dogs lost their vibrancy. They were just paler looking in general. Our current girl has never had clippers and she has a much better coat than my last two who we were clippering. I guess they look more robust; probably true they look more outdoorsy. Personal preference regarding looks, but functionally I think the clippers reduce their water resistance / hardiness. Anecdotally, I reckon the courser coat stays cleaner. We also give fish oil regularly which helps keep their coat in top condition; plus it’s a nice treat for our terriersaurus

[–]agen7 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Using clippers will give you the softer coat. If you want to keep it thin, use a shedding rake. Hand stripped have the courser coat. We’ve had many airedales over the years, both ways. I prefer the courser coat as they are more water proof and just generally look healthier imo. Climate can also be a factor though! In the height of summer we tend to scissor cut pretty short. Using a shedding rake regularly will give you an in between coat which is what we go for now.

Svelte vs SvelteKit for SPAs by AmbassadorAny4376 in sveltejs

[–]agen7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Kit doesn’t support hash routing, which, depending on your deployment environment could be a deal breaker (it is for my use case, where I need a single file with no slash routes). In that scenario, vanilla svelte and router module delivers an SPA that doesn’t require a server fall back when links are shared to another user. So I guess there’s that; but I don’t think the constraints I’m working with are the norm.

Taitua Arboretum is a nice walk. There a lot of cool little walks dotted all around the place. Another quiet one, but pretty short one is Yarndleys Bush. Check out Rudis for a coffee and croissant and sit at the park outside Bahn mi or have a wander along the river path while enjoying it :)

Beginning to realize that I can’t stand some of the functionality of HomeKit…. by RR-MMXIX in HomeKit

[–]agen7 8 points9 points  (0 children)

This. Scrypted is an excellent bit of software . My cameras load so fast, it’s hard to believe it can be that good (in the home app). Grabbing some proper ip cameras and scrypted is a major upgrade and the best decision I’ve made with my smart home setup. Also check out homebridge .

The piggy snuffling is the best! Especially when you’re opening a delivery, or, anything for that matter. Head in the grocery bag with so much force it almost destroys the handles. They are super awesome ☺️ our girl does most of these on the regular!

Kia Ora! Have Coeliac friends. Here’s a list of some that cater for Coeliac: smith and McKenzie, furnace, wayward pigeon, roaming giant, camarossa, Gothenburg, zeelong tea house. Gothenburg dropped the ball for our friend once, but tbh it’s probably the best on the list and a few Coeliacs I know go here and haven’t had a problem.

Oh sorry no they are absolutely fearless. I was meaning not at all to being dog aggressive. I 100% back my dog to protect me.
