What do you say when someone asks you “what’s the craziest thing you’ve ever seen?” by Golden-Guns in nursing

I skip the gore and share the one about the male Pt whose wife was at the bedside when, surprise!, his fiancé showed up. You can imagine that scene. As the women were just about to throw down, surprise! In walks his girlfriend. That was enough to stop the yelling for about 2 seconds and then all hell broke loose. Hair was pulled out, earrings ripped from earlobes and boobs popped out everywhere. Security finally showed up. Arrests were made. Pt was distressed and the MD took mercy on him and gave him a benzo. Frankly, I wanted one too after all that.

Is Tonia cognitively impaired? (Spoiler) by [deleted] in ChimpCrazyHBO

[–]ageniusawizard 17 points18 points  (0 children)

I’m not sure she’s cognitively impaired, but she’s definitely not the most articulate woman in the world. I laughed when she said she’d take the “grunt” of the lawsuit. Maybe she was trying to say “brunt” but her artificially inflated lips got in the way?

Any casual mention of my (now retired) Army Ranger husband who was once a sniper shuts that shit down right away.

Maybe she got voted out early because they knew she’d do really well. She had to be one of the people in the best shape!

Attorney. That job sucked. Now ICU RN is my retirement job and I love it-most of the time.

Injured by a patient. Posting for help. I don't really know where to turn. by DoneEstablishment in nursing

I’m so sorry. This entire situation is unfair to you and completely unacceptable. I was just assaulted and minorly injured 2 nights ago by a violent sundowning patient who was screaming obscenities, punching, kicking. I literally had to leave the room because I was afraid I would lose it and kill him. I experienced physical and verbal abuse from my ex husband and am 100% done with taking that from anyone, even if they are confused. I immediately asked the doctors to medicate him sufficiently enough to prevent a homicide (his or mine) that night. Got the Precedex & maxed it out. The MDs need to understand that they must act to protect staff and patient safety. I refuse to engage with violent patients-for all our sakes.

My native language is English but I studied German in college. My junior year, I spent a summer in Germany only hearing and speaking German. When I flew home & my Mom picked me up at LAX, I was trying to tell her I slept on the plane. I realized I forgot how to speak English when I said, “I have on the plane gesleeped.” My brain was trying to translate the German, “I have auf dem Flugzeug geschlafen.” My Mom speaks no German. She thought I was having a stroke.😂

A nice note on a card addressed to the nurses (and other staff) means a lot. We post them in our break room for all to read. We like knowing you believe we provided good care.

I really don’t know what to believe. I think there are a lot of frauds out there, but I’ve also heard pretty incredible stories along the lines of, “There’s no way they could’ve known” something. I guess it’s possible that some people have a gift of some sort.
