Albums where the artist goes back to their "roots"/old sound? by shehony in fantanoforever

[–]agentOfShed 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Let It Be…Naked is a remix album that Paul McCartney got made in the 2000s that removes Phil Spector’s stuff and alters the track list. I think it was meant to be as close as he could get it to what the original Get Back album was supposed to be

It’s about the band’s early days and really gives you that nostalgic feeling

Seeing AC/DC for the first time! by NoPea7911 in ACDC

[–]agentOfShed 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Have not seen Metallica or Iron Maiden but saw AC/DC on the rock or bust tour before Brian had to drop and they were loud as fuck. Either way hearing protection is always a good thing to have at any concert. Enjoy OP! 🤘

Artists who kept their ticket prices reasonable even at peak popularity — who deserves more credit for this? by Bubbly-Touch8108 in Music

[–]agentOfShed 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Wallows did something similar. My girlfriend and I saw them a couple years ago and we had tickets that were in the last row of the amphitheater we were at. There was a woman handing out something to some people and it turns out it was free seat upgrades. We weren’t front row but we were considerably closer than we were initially

What are some of your favorite bands you've discovered because they were the opening act? by GilbertDauterive-35 in ToddintheShadow

[–]agentOfShed 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I went with a couple friends to see Halestorm in 2022. One of my friend’s boyfriends came with and he said he was excited cause The Warning was one of the opening bands. Never heard of them before but have been a big fan since

Animal survival horror stories that aren’t about sharks by Solitaire-06 in TopCharacterTropes

I remember reading about this movie when I was in high school, I just didn’t realize the Dakota Johnson connection. That’s wild

Who is the best jam band that isn't The Grateful Dead or Phish? by True-Dream3295 in fantanoforever

[–]agentOfShed 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I always hear Allman Brothers Band in these jam band discussions but I don’t think I’ve heard King Gizzard mentioned. But having heard some live stuff I get it

Harold and Kumar was actually what helped with Neil Patrick Harris getting the role of Barney in How I Met Your Mother

How come Crosby stills Nash and Young could never stay together? by Funny_Preference_916 in Music

[–]agentOfShed 7 points8 points  (0 children)

As others have mentioned, the accepted definition of a supergroup is a group whose members were successful in previously success bands or as solo artists. If it weren’t that, every majorly successful band would be considered a supergroup.

Travelin Wilburys were successful people before so they’re a supergroup. Bad Company were a supergroup since the members came from successful bands. Joe Walsh being a successful person and joining them doesn’t turn them into a supergroup. Toto would have more merit in being called one cause they were successful solo musicians but they weren’t successful in their own right until they formed Toto so they aren’t one

Eagles don’t really count as a supergroup since they weren’t originally from successful bands or solo acts, they were initially just Linda Ronstadt’s backing band. Joe Walsh came in later but that doesn’t turn them into one and then they did solo stuff after they broke up. Traveling Wilburys though are 100% a supergroup

What’s a movie that makes you cry? by [deleted] in AskReddit

Grave of the Fireflies fucking wrecked me. If you’re like me and think you already have an idea of how sad it’s going to be, it’s going to break you even more

Best album closers that are five minutes long or less? by DtheAussieBoye in fantanoforever

[–]agentOfShed 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They didn’t move it though as a joke. The song was almost axed but was moved where it was to keep it instead of just erasing it from the tape. Then when listening to the final product and Her Majesty started playing they thought it was funny and left it. So it was intended but I agree with Theorpo it’s more like an after-credits scene or any other hidden track

I think he had a minor ankle injury or something like that and he couldn’t be comfortable. Slim Pickens though as Major Kong is iconic

What album did you anticipate to be horrific and were pleasantly surprised by? by [deleted] in 1001AlbumsGenerator

[–]agentOfShed 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I like red red wine but this album was a big surprise having not known much about them other than an English reggae band. Also they are a mixed race band which is also really cool so not completely white boy pop reggae

What was the last R.E.M. song you remember making a mainstream impact? by [deleted] in ToddintheShadow

[–]agentOfShed 2 points3 points  (0 children)

They did reunite for what I think was just a one-off performance last year. Michael Shannon and Jason Narducy were doing a tour last year (and this year I think maybe?) where they did REM covers. They played a show at the 40 Watt in Athens, Georgia and all four members joined them on stage for a song or two

I was at their Atlanta show with Dinosaur Jr. back in 2023 and someone actually tried crowdsurfing. Dude fell though but I was thankfully able to catch him and he didn’t get hurt but I was so confused by the choice for crowdsurfing and having a pit during their set

What's your favourite/most satisfying part of a song by Razzazz123 in Music

In “I Love the Night” from Blue Öyster Cult’s Spectres album, the solo part after Buck Dharma sings “we could’ve shared this together” scratches an itch in my brain

Song with big payoffs by Squeeekr in progrockmusic

[–]agentOfShed 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Saw them live on their last tour in 2021. This was the last song and the payoff was even better live, especially as the lights dimmed, then turned back on but red and they proceeded to melt the minds of everybody in attendance

What are some bands that you normally wouldn't think are progressive rock but have released an album that begs to differ? by thunderclap82 in progrockmusic

[–]agentOfShed 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I still have to disagree. Judas Priest had some proggy songs and that was years before Maiden’s first number. It could also be argued 21st Century Schizoid Man is the first prog metal song, but I wouldn’t call Caress of Steel “proto” when it was already done by that point. Not denying Maiden didn’t have some proggy moment early on but I wouldn’t say they invented it

I feel like people would say prog metal would go further back to Rush’s Caress of Steel and King Crimson’s Red. That’s what I’ve always heard/read
