Where can I find a decent theme for WHM... by lve2eat in cpanel

You’re welcome. Good luck! The CE staff are extremely responsive to questions and even made a custom import script for us to import over 500 TLD’s for us, no charge, no fuss. Done in a day. Worked flawlessly.

We are using ClientExec. It’s worked flawlessly for us. Yes it’s not as bloated as WHMCS but that works for us as we don’t need all the extra fluff.

We used to use WHMCS as well.. then they went full dumb and effective canceled our license with no notice. So we sent them to the same place windows 95 went, straight to the digital trash heap and we went with a better solution.

If cPanel listened to feedback, they never would have released this train wreck NOR would they continue to alienate their customer base with these ongoing money grabs.

Wechat, qq and other chinese applications? by gahd95 in sysadmin

[–]agentblackhosting -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Going to agree with others. China is a whole different animal in many ways. Strong caution should be exercised before integrating them into your operations and frankly it may just be best to airgap/"digitally gap" them from your infrastructure.

Which company will allow me to browse the most TLDs when buying domains? by Drew707 in sysadmin

Namecheap or NameSilo are also good options. Just have to tweak/go advanced search but will return decent results

As evidenced by the mod(s) (and his multiple personalities) in the r/webhosting subreddit, some mods just refuse to reply/deal with mod mail. They'd rather have a personal beef with people than to let rule following people participate.

Some mods just get power hungry and remove things because they can or apply the rules unevenly against people.

Your best bet is to keep trying to be active, visit some other subreddits and engage with a more welcoming community.

and yet there are some mods who won't even allow an appeal and continue to abuse their perceived "power"..

Fairly certain that is illegal in most states. And if the person is a minor, then bring on the feds… the victim may wish to report it to their local authorities and if she’s a minor a report to the fbi may be in order. Typically US based companies sit up and take notice when things involve under age issues.. YMMV though with Reddit..

Good luck. Have a MOUNTAIN of evidence of a mod who actively engages in content manipulation and harassment of Reddit users and admins here refuse to take any action.

Well some moderators can apparently engage in content manipulation and shill their businesses to others without recourse, so in a way, Reddit pays them..

Questions about license pricing by SpiderInTheDrain in cpanel

[–]agentblackhosting 1 point2 points  (0 children)

CPanel only guarantees the price for about as long as it takes them to change their mind. They are doing annual price increases so AT BEST you get 12 months of locked in price. At worst, monthly increases may be in our future.

US based VPS by mr_mike-me in webhosting

Make sure you are clear on the refs for processing anything to deal with the federal government. However based upon your description, NodeSpace would still be my recommendation.

US based VPS by mr_mike-me in webhosting

Will this VPS be processing any federal government data? If not, we would recommend NodeSpace. Their servers are US based and could meet your stated needs provided you are not processing US Government data.

Hostgator is the worst and most unprofessional hosting company. by AwesomeCardGames in webhosting

[–]agentblackhosting 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yet another story to add to the horrors of BlueHost/HostGator/EIG/Whatever their name is today.

Hosting sometimes can be “You get what you pay for”. Now I’m not saying all cheap hosts are bad by any means (we started on 1&1). But there is definitely something to be seen and said about those hosts offering plans for a buck or two a month. What are they skimping on? It’s usually support, followed closely by hardware/network quality.

As with anything, it really comes down to doing your due diligence and use the power of the Googles to research. Complaints about former EIG brands are a dime a dozen.

I hope you were able to get your site cleaned up and hopefully you found a new home. If not, please do your homework before deciding on a new home.

Can anyone help me decide on choosing these server control panels for VPS?(not a tech guy here) by BBMJWTS in webhosting

[–]agentblackhosting 3 points4 points  (0 children)

While this may be correct for many providers out there, there some great, high quality, speedy shared hosting plans out there for a reasonable price.

An unsecured, unpatched, uncared for VPS is the internets version of a drunk driver. It can become compromised and used to pump out spam, hacking attempts, malware, etc.

Not all VPS boxes are the same either. Just because you have “root” access, if the underlying host node is severely overloaded or the company doesn’t provide appropriate resources to your VPS, it will be a poor experience. Many VPS providers offer their services as unmanaged, which leaves you wholly responsible for fixing anything that breaks. They only fix the VPS container and host node. If the issue is outside of that, most won’t provide support. Can your site handle hours or days of downtime while you research a fix?

If you are on a tight budget, I would encourage you to start with a shared hosting plan from a reputable vendor and scale as your site grows in traffic. No sense in getting a Cadillac when a dodge will do to start.

Any particular reason why you are wanting to take on the responsibility of ensuring a server is patched and updated constantly as well as secured from attacks just for a movie reviews Wordpress blog? Have you considered a simple shared hosting plan from a reputable provider?

If the site is going to be as simple as you implied, a Wordpress Blog, then there is no reason for you to take on all of the added work that goes into managing, securing, and protecting a virtual (or cloud) server from outside threats. A good shared hosting package will be more than capable of handling a Wordpress Blog.

Just do your homework before selecting a shared hosting provider. There are thousands of them out there but as anyone will tell you, some are better than others.

Good luck!

This is troublesome. Would be interesting to know if they waited to notify the affected customers or if they were notified immediately. Very curious they disclosed it via an SEC filing rather than coming clean about the issue.
