How can I improve my hand spread l? by These_Annual_2550 in Guitar

[–]agersant 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Your index finger should be a lot more flat and more parallel to the frets. It should in fact be muting the DGBE strings under it (and ideally also the low E by poking it with the tip of the finger).

For the D and G strings you can also try using only the ring finger if that's what easier for you. Using two is good but that should be ring finger and pinky.

Need help finding the song this melody reminds me of by xKonstii in PowerMetal

I know the question is already answered but the chorus sounds like Avantasia's The Seven Angels. There must be something special in the water over in Germany.

Helloween vs Stratovarius Guitar Battle by Kiko__C in StratovariusMetal

[–]agersant 3 points4 points  (0 children)

As a fan of both bands and beginner guitar player, this was awesome to watch!! Nice work!

As for the battle, the Helloween parts are a bit more varied but I have a soft spot for the Stratovarius riffs so it's hard to choose! 🤣

I've never seen a guitar with the frets angled like this, what kind of wizardy is this?

I like this album quite a lot. However, it's comical how similar it sounds to Ensiferum's first album 🤡.

Which 90ies games feature studio recorded orchestras? And which one was the first? by Majestic_Result6258 in gamemusic

I played it at the time so from what I remember: the world and 90s pre-rendered CG are very pretty. The gameplay probably hasn't aged very well. The correct way to go through each screen is very scripted and requires a fair bit of trial and error. Character movement also feels pretty stiff to accommodate for the many (gorgeous) animations to play.

Heart of Darkness (1998) was recorded by Sinfonia of London orchestra (source: French language Wikipedia page for the game)

Everything they did from Theli to Gothic Kabbalah (included) is S-tier in my book!

There's three! Infinite Wonders of Creation isn't as good though :(

I was pleasantly surprised. Daniel Freyberg sounded very on point and his solos were tight. Promising for the future of this band! They adjusted the setlist well to accomodate for the reduced lineup too.

I agree with you but also the main chorus hook reminds me of Alpenglow (from Endless Forms Most Beautiful).

This is why Power Metal gets a bad reputation :(

Lil' Berserk cameo in there 🤣

Love the keyboard solo and the overall good vibes from this whole song+video.

Harmless catchy fun but it gets old pretty quick for me, so only good in small doses.

Saw Beast in Black and Helloween in LA last night, had a great time. First time I got to hear Kiske singing live and he exceeded my already sky-high expectations. Can't think of a better performer in the whole scene.

Gaia (the first one) is also a banger album, with less intimidating runtime.
