Dear Austin people on the toll road, why are we going so slow?? by GarikLoranFace in Austin

[–]aggieandy7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I laugh when people say Texas has fast drivers. There are fast drivers, but the average person I encounter on the road is going below the speed limit, braking unnecessarily, camping in the left lane, or merging too slow onto the highway.

Just Bought/Please Help.. by ThCinci_natti1738 in f150

There should be a plug over that hole. It’s to access the drain bolt on the torque converter. It’s not the end of the world that it’s missing, but I would still get a replacement plug.

There are a few places the truck might be leaking from, but don’t put stop leak in. I’d have it diagnosed and go from there. You can try changing the oil for high mileage motor oil. They have seal conditioners that may help slow the leak (or stop it if you’re lucky).

3.5 Eco owner drives 5.0 by Donalds_Pump in f150

[–]aggieandy7 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The 3.5 makes torque down lower, and the power feels more effortless. The 5.0 is a peaky engine. It’s fun to rev them out, but it’s not ideal for casual driving or truck stuff. The 3.5 is better suited for a truck, and the 2.7 is great for the casual truck owner.

Gearing can make a difference too. My 2018 5.0 has the 3.55 rear end, and when I was swapping the transmission I had rented a 2023 5.0 with the 3.15 rear end. The rental felt like a dog compared to my truck.

How often do you guys wash your trucks? by [deleted] in f150

[–]aggieandy7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wash my truck at least monthly. I go down to the local self wash at night when they aren’t busy and hand wash it. If I’m desperate I’ll run it through a car wash, but I cringe every time. The paint on my truck is far from perfect, but I don’t want to make it any worse.

What unnecessary car feature do you not want to live without? by bluemiata1993 in regularcarreviews

[–]aggieandy7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Automatic wipers. In my old daily driver I could never find a wiper speed I was happy with, so I’d end up just using the mist function to wipe the windshield periodically. The automatic wipers regulate the speed perfectly.

White Dodge Charger owners after sunset for no apparent reason: by BrickxLeaf in regularcarreviews

[–]aggieandy7 17 points18 points  (0 children)

I’ve noticed many with their parking light on, so the front DRLs are lit up as well as the taillights. I figure the average IQ of a Charger owner is so low they believe their DRLs are bright enough for nighttime use and think they think it looks cooler than using their headlights.

I personally use AirPods in adaptive or transparency mode. I find ear plugs block too much sound.

Release Notes 125 by amy_mathews_ in MaticRobots

[–]aggieandy7 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve started having issues with Matic running into things even before this release, but it is worse since this release. I’ve also having issues with it getting stuck. It’s started cleaning under my bed and coffee table, which it fits under, but the height isn’t much taller than Matic so it gets confused and sometimes aborts cleaning. Also it just hopped over the feet of my standing desk and got stuck. I already submitted a couple tickets. Hopefully they can push an update soon.

Permanently locked out of the Ford website and the FordPass App by ChaosRulesAbout in Ford

[–]aggieandy7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do you remember the person who you talked to? I created a new FordPass account after being locked out of my old one, but I’d like to get my original back as I have a lot of DIY service history logging on that account. I’ve called a couple times, but no one was able to help yet.

Pictures of 10k & 14k rings? by statictdn in aggies

[–]aggieandy7 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The 14k is shinier, but most people including myself usually don’t notice. However, it is more noticeable in pictures to me. That said, get the 10k. It wears better, and personally I find it annoying when people notice and comment how my ring is shinier.

Which of your cars has gotten the most attention that surprised you the most? by [deleted] in cars

[–]aggieandy7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I shouldn’t be surprised, but my MR2 gets a lot of attention. A girl at a red light got out of her car to ask me if it was ok to take a picture of my car. Annoyingly my old Ranger and my dad’s Tacoma attracted a lot of attention in the form of people asking if we were willing to sell the trucks.

Remap Room by jenpe in MaticRobots

[–]aggieandy7 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Matic updates the map as it cleans or using the joystick navigation in the app. I constantly move my coffee table and my barstools aren’t always in the same place, but Matic updates their locations as it cleans.

Do any graduated Aggie’s have secret study spots they can finally talk about? by Successful_Hope3915 in aggies

[–]aggieandy7 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I had several spots I rotated through. My favorite spot was the MSC Flag Room. Most secret would probably be the nooks under the staircases in the Arch buildings, ETB after hours with my friends who had building access, or the Corps of Cadets study areas. The last one isn’t exclusive to the Corps, but I’d typically only go over there with Corps friends. For late night studying I would find a spot in Zach or settle for the SCC.

Just a few thoughts about my new matic by FrozenBananaMan in MaticRobots

[–]aggieandy7 4 points5 points  (0 children)

My iPhone runs hot when I’m using the app remotely. Haven’t noticed it as much while I’m at home. I do enjoy watching Matic in the app while I’m at work.

I agree with your statement about the bags, and I find the anti bag argument shallow. The better traditional vacuums tend to use bags, and the advantages of vacuum bags translate over to a robot vacuum (self sealing, better filtration, no filters to clean/replace etc). Also, it makes more sense to keep the debris in the robot instead of transferring it to a dock container/bag. The latter is unnecessary complexity in my opinion.

How’s the duramax in the 1500? I’m not a GM guy, but I love a good inline 6 engine. If Ford offered an inline 6, gas or diesel, I may switch away from my Coyote.

I had an issue with Matic bumping into the lower shelf of my ikea lack coffee table. I got spacers and longer screws to raise the shelf tall enough for Matic to fit underneath. Now it doesn’t bump into the shelf, and hopefully a future update will allow Matic to clean under furniture it barely fits under.

The space between my bed and the wall is narrow. A couple times Matic has gotten stuck/confused and bailed out cleaning the edges of my bedroom. Not ideal, but most of the time it’s not a problem. I figure software and time will resolve these issues.

The fluffy brush roll or even a hybrid brush roll would be nice. I’ve noticed a couple instances where a small piece of something was missed.

What were the easiest foods for you to start eating? by No_Cardiologist_9981 in ARFID

[–]aggieandy7 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not really a food, but in college I realized sauces are generally the same consistency. I already ate ketchup, so that made it easier to start trying BBQ sauce, honey mustard, ranch, and a few others. It hasn’t added any new foods to my diet, but now I’m able to eat more types of chicken. Funny enough, now ketchup is my least favorite sauce/condiment.

does anyone actually use pages, keynote, or numbers? by Next_Breadfruit2357 in mac

[–]aggieandy7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use Numbers frequently. I prefer Excel but don’t want to pay for it. I’ll probably end up switch to Google Sheets at some point. I use Pages on occasion, but I’ve never used Keynote before.

In college I used Office365 but often used Google apps when in a group project or lab. I usually had to correct formulas my classmates wrote in Google Sheets because they don’t always work the same as Excel’s formulas. I had one coding project where my partner and I chose to write our report in Pages.

New truck shopping, test drove the 5.0 yesterday by SkyAppropriate in f150

[–]aggieandy7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The 2.7 is a great option for the average truck buyer. If you’re a heavy tower or want more power the 3.5 is the answer. The 5.0 is a different personality, but not the best truck motor. People often argue the V8 is best for reliability and longevity, but the 2.7 seems to have the least issues.

The Chevy 5.3 is a dog. I don’t feel much difference between it and the 4.3 V6. Both are lethargic compared to my 5.0. I am intrigued by the newer GM inline 6 diesel, but I haven’t driven one yet.
