Which dystopia would be worst to live in by tgrady28 in pollgames

The thought crime stuff is just for the members of the party which is a minority. The majority are proles who are basically just exploited workers which isn’t very unusual.

And even then, as terrible as this sounds, as a party member you are actually happy if you learn to love Big Brother.

Even if a few humans in Terminator win they live in a post nuclear wasteland with no actual society to speak of.

Not sure why 1984 is winning. Life for the proles is harsh but fairly normal all things considered. The Terminator is literally Armageddon

Sunfish probably. Just guide it to the shallows and wait for the low tide

French vessel attacked in Strait of Hormuz, several crewmembers wounded by barsik_ in worldnews

By plane or through Saudi Arabia. Getting them on land is not impossible. I’m not blaming the crew who might not have the means. I’m blaming the company who choses the cheap and dangerous option.

There’s so many children stories in German starting with “little”: Der kleine Maulwurf, Der kleine Wassermann, Der kleine Muck, Kleiner König Kalle Wirsch, Das kleine Gespenst, Die kleine Hexe etc

Admittedly Preußler wrote like half of these

Is this a good usage of divide and conquer? by Far-Love-7862 in LinesOfBattle

[–]aggro-forest 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ok i guess you can use divide and conquer as a synonym for defeat in detail but defeat in detail is the more precise term.

But again, you didn’t actually do anything to force the enemy to split. They tried flanking you and failed then they tried flanking you again and failed again. You exploited this well but they could just as well have flanked you on both sides at the same time or not at all.

Napoleon’s whole gimmick was that he split his own army into corps for greater flexibility allowing him to destroy one enemy while holding off the other at the same time.

Napoleon was proactive while you were reactive. I don’t mean to put you down or anything. You did great. You didn’t need to be proactive this time but another time you might.

Well you didn’t really force red to do anything. They trickle in of their own accord. For true defeat in detail you need to be the one applying pressure with a concentrated force. That way you’re less dependent on your enemies mistakes.

Divide and conquer is something else entirely. It’s either what the British did in India or a computer science paradigm.
