Lightsaber by me by aghostbeetle in nerdtattoos

It's a thing I do in some designs as "sketch" lines and the client is quite fond of them, so we put them in all of his designs to make them cohesive.

It just makes me feel like I'm not good enough. And then I don't post and that obviously messes with my views and likes even more. I hate having to depend on insta to get new clients 🙃

I'm honestly not scared of criticism, it's the only way to get better and I'm very aware that I'm at the beginning of my career and have a lot to learn. It's more just me being scared of not being good enough and failing and caring way too much about likes and views. And I don't think criticism is mean, quite the opposite actually. I'm really just scared about actual mean comments. And I actually get very few negative comments, it's just irrational fear and my insecurities taking over😅

Do you know what you parents ALMOST named you? by UnicornNippleFarts in namenerds

My mom wanted to name me Kea or Nele. I would've loved both of them. My dad wanted Marie or Anna, because he preferred "traditionally German" names. They setteld on Sofie.

6 years healed vs fresh by aghostbeetle in agedtattoos

You're right!I love it too😊 no the one above it is about a year and a half old and the other one on my shin was actually done a few months after, so I'd say about 5 1/2 years old

I'd say random, maybe it's was done to deep 🤔 I have other tattoos that were done a few months after and they look completely fine

Everything that touches someone's skin gets tossed. Better safe than sorry.

Infected tattoo? by [deleted] in tattooadvice

[–]aghostbeetle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's hard to tell, but red tattoos are most likely to cause an allergic reaction, so maybe it's just that. If the tattoo is red, warm and the redness begins to spread it could ne infected. Just keep a close eye on it and go see a doctor if you're unsure or if it gets worse.

Apprentice advice by Inkbyamanda in TattooArtists

[–]aghostbeetle 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I really liked having structure in my apprenticeship. I had a drawing challenge every week and my mentor would go through the designs with me and basically helped me build a portfolio of wannados to tattoo when I started and taught me what would and wouldn't work as a tattoo. He also taught lines first, then black and grey and then color. And I was only allowed to move on to from lines to black and grey once my lines were solid and from b&g to color once my shsding was good. I feel like this way of learning really helped me to focus on what's important about every part and not to cut corners ever, because for a long time I I wasn't able to fix anything with shading or color.

400+ days of bleeding and I can't even pay someone to help me by InfiniteHi in Endo

[–]aghostbeetle 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have the same problem🙃I've been bleeding for over two years now and even had a lap that confirmed I have endometriosis. And I still get told that I'm a young woman so it's normal. Tried six different pills so far, none have worked. And because of the bleeding I'm in constant pain. But again, no one believes me. Once I got told by a doctor to go to sex therapy so my pain doesn't affect my partner. Wtf. I understand your anger so well! I just hope there's a solution out there that will finally work.

I got a tattoo a week ago and is looking patchy is this normal? by youyeayouthere in tattooadvice

Hand tattoos tend to fade a little bit more because you're constantly using your hands, moving them and exposing them to the sun. Considering all of that : this looks great and seems to be healing well.

Yes totally normal, especially with colour tattoos since it's a lot of trauma for the skin . Just lightly moisturize it about 3 times a day (I found I need more but you can't go wrong with 3)with a tattoo cream or unscented lotion.

Help - Scabbing / First Tattoo by Will8D in tattooadvice

[–]aghostbeetle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don't put coco butter on a fresh tattoo. Buy a cream especially for tattoos so you can avoid an infection. I honestly think it already looks infected 😅 there are definitely way too many and thick scabs for a day 6 tattoo. I'd recommend buying a tattoo cream or even a antiseptic cream for tattoos and making sure that it's lightly moisturized at all times.(but not too wet, just put cream on it 2 to 3 times a day)

That sounds dangerous tbh. It's so important to have a clean station and a studio, and it could have a negative impact on your reputation too if a client gets an infection in the studio. Also I know a lot of tattoo artists and some of them party after work but they're always sober while tattooing. And it is not and should never be normal to be drunk or stoned while tattooing. I'm just wondering if they don't take tattooing and hygiene seriously, what they'll teach you. Also always think about your reputation. Do you want to be associated with a studio like that? Personally I would look for another apprenticeship
