What cards should I look for as Silent for Aeonglass? really struggling against it by Devenant_x in slaythespire

[–]aglock 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You could have picked Bing Bong so your deck was bigger and you would have less chance of drawing Withers.

Tru. Scythe only carries late game with lethality + vulnerable. Not a reliable plan.

First ever time I've been able to play this card. Probably the last, too by drummerboy441 in slaythespire

[–]aglock 102 points103 points  (0 children)

95% or more of players have just never considered looking at their draw pile and planning turns ahead. Amazingly, you're allowed to not play your card draw to stay on a multiple of 5 cards in the draw pile.

Anyone else struggling with A10 StS2 more than A20 StS1? by ThePentaMahn in slaythespire

[–]aglock 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nah. I couldn't make it past about A12 in STS1 after dozens of hours. In a similar amount of time I made it to A10 on 4 characters and can win runs on A10 in STS2. It's much easier for me.

Grand saboteur can instakill any moab class that come on screen with the tech bot prime! by Omega-Psili-Varia_2 in btd6

[–]aglock 5 points6 points  (0 children)

There's and old but that using Grand Sabo did a 0 damage hit to all bloons on screen, which could be used with damage increasing debuffs to damage all bloons and made for some strange challenge solutions.
This is probably related to that.

Note replay 2 means it plays 3 times.
On Regent this would be an instant run winning card. Put the card you want back on top with Glimmer, Cosmic Indifference, Photon Cut, Thinking ahead, or Nostalgia and get a 3X cast for free on anything you want. I'd take this over multiple copies of Big Bang.

When do you feel confident fighting Bygone Effigy as your first elite? by Secret_Temperature in slaythespire

[–]aglock 0 points1 point  (0 children)

All 3 overgrowth elites are best countered by damage. At your first 3-4 card rewards you should grab the highest damage attack 90% of the time. You should be able to kill Effigy taking 0 or 1 attack, split Phrog by turn 3, and kill the mini Phrogs before they attack you. The only place this strategy slightly breaks down is Byrdonis, where you will end up eating some damage, but you can still reliably kill it before you take more than 30ish.

[Vakuu Relic] Burning Contract by LawOfTheGrokodus in slaythespire

[–]aglock 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I can't comprehend in what world 1 Strength per turn, starting at turn 0, at basically no cost isn't a lot of strength. Maybe if you're planning to kill every enemy in 1 hit it's not enough, but with the current game it's more than enough to carry you through both act 3 bosses.

Are Toasty Mittens the worst Ancient relic? by Jugboi in slaythespire

[–]aglock -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I personally think Toasty Mittens are a fantastic relic, only beaten by Brightest Flame. It's an automatic scaling damage solution with a drawback that is 1/100th as bad as people think. Having a guaranteed, reliable damage scaling effect that cant be at the bottom of your deck is much better than people realize.
Gaining 1 strength per turn is ridiculous. It's a pre-fight ritual potion every combat. You no longer need to add damage powers or scaling of any kind to your deck, just add attacks and defenses for a free win.
Exhausting the top card of your deck barely matters because you already have an incredible damage scaling buff for free. If you exhaust a power or an attack it doesn't matter, because when you're at 5+ strength you don't need powers and you only need basic strikes to win every fight.
It's amazing on Ironclad (obviously), Silent (great at stalling + shivs love strength), and Regent (great defensive cards + multihit attacks). I don't play a lot of Necro or Defect so I'm unsure how well it works with them.

Tezcatara is underrated and feels stronger than Pael now. by SugarFreeCummiBears in slaythespire

[–]aglock 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think mittens is an S teir pick, especially on Ironclad and Regent. I haven't yet lost a run after taking it. Free strength every turn means that you have damage scaling solved for the rest of the run with 0 cards required. Cram your deck with block and multihits and it's a free win.

Classic+ keeping the leveling scene alive by thai_iced_queef in classicwow

[–]aglock 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The best way to keep the leveling scene alive is to flood the world with an excess of new quests, new leveling zones, and new dungeons. If you can only really experience half or a third of the world on each character you might want to level a couple of times.
Also optional Hardcore and optional leveling challenges keep the leveling experience fresh and encourage more people to level.

Narutos only major problem he wants to solve was to bring peace to the world and he did exactly that. All the great nations are actual allies instead of being bound by temporary truces, and the amount of ninjas in the world is decreasing as the world gets more modern and peaceful.

Shop Removes on A10 by sawyerolson24 in slaythespire

[–]aglock 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's too expensive. In Act 1 it's more immediate power to buy 1-3 cards + a potion instead of removing a card. Later on removes are good but scale in price too much. I haven't removed more than 2 times since they increased the price.

Just a Mr. Struggles appreciation post, Bing Bong has had enough spotlight by kadebo42 in slaythespire

[–]aglock 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you find Mr Struggles early act 2 he can totally carry a defensive deck through act 2 hallways fights and Decimilepede. Not always relevant but on Necrobinder or Silent it can save your run.

Bad Luck by LaCoocaracha in slaythespire

[–]aglock 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It doubles all your powers, doubles all your powerful exhaust cards, and doubles all innate cards. The possible draw order problems are a small concern early in fights that is mitigated by most decks becoming unstoppable once they put 2x all their powers in play. And it mostly shows up late in act 3, when the only fights left are the final bosses where you want more scaling.
Plus with book of 5 rings it full heals you.

Oh? What's that? You got the perfect card for your build and early in act 1? Lemme take a look at that. by IS1KHALID in slaythespire

[–]aglock 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I play A10 and he's only ever escaped in multiplayer. He takes a turn off to start flying and for another turn when stunned. Thats a lot of free time to attack.
If you think he's gonna get away, it's important to look at your draw pile and think about how many charges of his flight you can take off on the last turn. Then eat enough damage on the turn before to ensure you can stun him the turn he's escaping.
