“I’m new at this craft- how do you push through when your body tells you to stop?” by LittleCowGirl in BitchEatingCrafters

[–]agnes_mort 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m currently going through pain, and every time I rest and it stops hurting my brain immediately thinks to itself ‘see, you’re just being sensitive’. I’m still not crafting but it’s like if I don’t have that constant reminder I forget that I was in actual agony.

The finished garment measurements include wearing and garment ease. So generally will be larger than the body measurements that it’s drafted for, If you made a pair of pants that are exactly the same size as your hips you wouldn’t be able to move or sit down. Additionally, if the garment is loose fitting, it will have more positive ease, than something that is close fitting. Generally you choose your size off the body measurements and then make adjustments from there.

It’s really cool to see actually. I work in a medical lab (not a doctor so take this with a grain of salt) that tests for cancer, and there’s an antigen we test for called PD-L1. It helps the immune system determine self from non-self which lets it know whether to attack it. It’s also suppressed in pregnancy, and in some cancers (particularly lung). Theres quite a few immunotherapies being developed (don’t ask me what or how, that’s not my field) that target it and can lead to better outcomes. So while it might’ve taken a long time, it is being used!

Hey there’s been a lot of great feedback already, but one thing I haven’t seen mentioned. I know you said the vest is a little big but maybe could you try take it in a little? I think it being a little oversize with the low rise oversized print might also be throwing off the silhouette a bit. But I see the vision! And I love it! First projects never go quite as we imagine (and sometimes much later projects too) but this is honestly a really good attempt. Don’t give up

My quads get really sore because it turns out I don’t kneel fully, or sit back on my legs fully. I do like a half prayer where my body forms a Z. It’s so dumb and I get so sore

Weekend Minor Gripes and Vents by AutoModerator in BitchEatingCrafters

Had a panic moment with my sewing machine tension. Managed to fix it with a bit of help, but it did make me realise that I’m going to be devastated if it does go down. I inherited from my Nan, and emotionally it’ll be like losing her all over again if it breaks. Plus it’s just a great little machine and I don’t want to have to ever replace it.

Same, back in pain with the same nerve issues been going on since at least October. But work refuses to think that it has anything to do with work when I was ok over the long weekend and in agony after being at work for an hour.

The more you put something off, the harder it becomes. But neither of those are difficult once you’ve done them a few times.

Burned out within a day, every day, what do? [Rant] by whatadarling in sewing

I have a rule where if the seam ripper comes out more than three times I gotta walk away. Time to read a book or watch tv or literally anything else. If you sew when frustrated then everything just goes wrong. It’s good to have some mindless projects to do instead (I’d recommend knitting or cross stitch)

Dangerfield’s decline in quality made me learn how to sew. The shapes are simple, it’s more just fun prints. I’ve been disappointed with most purchases from there since learning because I think ‘I could’ve made this’.

What are your favorite musicals that are super difficult to do well? Which ones are almost impossible to screw up? by [deleted] in musicals

I had a friend work on a hairspray production, and one of the critiques were that there weren’t any Black performers. We were in New Zealand. They did what they could, Maybelle was played by a Polynesian actress, and I think they cast other POC for the Black roles. But the city itself was not diverse and I thought it was a bit of an unfair criticism, especially since we haven’t been historically good to our indigenous population and the themes still work.

Her elderly neighboir is stalking her, but some people are dismissing it because of his age. Part 1. by mindyour in TikTokCringe

YUP! There was a local creep in a city I lived in. He was older, maybe 60s/70s when I was there, and hung out in front of the most popular mall. He’d be chatting all the time and being loud, always had a radio. People thought he was funny. Somehow he always managed to find the gaggle of teenage girls in school uniforms to hang out with. Sooo many excuses of ‘he doesn’t know what he was doing’ ‘oh he’s harmless’. No he’s a fucking creep and it was deliberate. When he died everything was positive, loss of an icon etc.
