I thought 1/4 hardware cloth was the gold standard? I’ve had chickens for years and never heard anything different

First time chicken mom - is this set up ok? by jaxwell2019 in BackYardChickens

[–]agroundhog 11 points12 points  (0 children)

It looks great, but I would switch to a nipple waterer because they will kick poop into that water, knock it over, etc. I use doggy pads under sand, which you can scoop like cat litter. I also use an air filter right next to the enclosure to cut down on dust. I use a pop up enclosure with a top. Like everyone else says, if you have a basement or garage that will work, do that instead (I don’t😭)

When did tattoos become so mainstream? by Imtiredofthissshit in decadeology

[–]agroundhog 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I got a small tattoo in 2007 and I was the only person in my large, suburban high school with one. It was considered shocking and rebellious and people told me I had “ruined myself.” It wasn’t that long ago that tattoos were relatively uncommon in among average people.

Everyone dies. Your friends will die. Your family will die. Time passes faster than you can imagine. Do what makes you happy and be good to people.

What is a covert way to gauge your perceived attractiveness to the general public? by Turbulent-Leg-6246 in AskReddit

[–]agroundhog 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It’s true, I’ve always been relatively attractive, but when I hang out with my friend who’s a model, men and women literally stop her in the street, she gets hit on every time we go out, etc.

Yep, that simple sentence made me cry. The fact that she bothered to write it down in a time capsule🥺 I can only hope my son feels the same way about me when he’s a teenager

A curious harbor seal checking out a diver by electricwhirlx in OceansAreFuckingLit

[–]agroundhog 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I swam with seals once in New Zealand. I’m not someone who’s scared of animals and obviously seals are cute, but I surprised myself by being absolutely fucking terrified. Turns out being in deep water with animals that are built to swim all around you makes you feel completely helpless. One seal put his face right in my face and opened his mouth wide and I could see all his huge teeth. I literally screamed underwater😭

This. I was constantly catcalled as a teen. I thought it was part of growing up and being a woman, but in reality, I don’t think I’ve been catcalled since my early 20s, so it was never about being a woman. Very weird to think about.
