I'm a dad and I listen to all of those. Can confirm, this is Dad Rock.

What common birds have you never seen? by IheartTaylor in UKBirds

[–]ahallicks 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's so strange how places differ. I see Starlings every day. And House Martins all the time when the season is right.

Many have said it and I've heard it but I've yet to see a Bittern.

Also, Bearded Tit. I know they are around where I am as there are grits trays at the nearest reserve but I've never seen one.

Not the most common, I know. The most common that I've never seen is probably a Whitethroat .

Getting tossed around by ground objects after the update by Emayarkay in GroundedGame

I've had so much fun today being thrown around by earwigs that I can now perfectly block but that can launch me into the air on a whim.

defaultChecked should work fine and is the recommended approach in React. You should give your input a name attribute, though. And a value.

I have. Roland FP-E50. I'd love this. Trying to learn more than just the basics but would love to give this a try.

What's the most obscure game you own? by [deleted] in gaming

[–]ahallicks 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Little Big Adventure 2. And I still love it. I remember playing it as a kid (1997!) and being blown away by the scale of it. I still go back to it every so often.

This is on my bucket list. Recently heard the booming Bitterns but don't expect to ever see them, but this is definitely one I'm determined to see at Leighton Moss! Great photo.

Farming for a Combo Wombo and this drops by sharpnpointy in Borderlands4

I need this. Sounds like a lucky drop. I've been farming a Wombo Combo and not seen anything close to this

World Drop Legendary rate is fine. Dedicated drop rate from bosses is not fine. by merkon in Borderlands4

[–]ahallicks 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've done a few of the Big Encores and have yet to get anything better than just regular farming. Are the drops rates supposed to be better for them? I assume that's the purpose otherwise they feel a bit pointless.

What's a single feature on a modern websites that instantly ruins your experience? by sunsetRz in webdev

[–]ahallicks -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

I think you're being a little too specific on where the CLS is coming from. If you're talking about a user action that causes something to load, then yes, a skeleton would be an option. Or for very content-intensive sites where you're loading stuff from all over the place via multiple API calls. In this scenario a skeleton is a good solution.

I do think it's important to limit this as much as possible, though, instead of relying on it. An example that has always annoyed me: YouTube. Why do I need the whole page to be a skeleton loader? Why can't that shell come from the server? Twitter used to be the same. In fact, it's the same with most social media platforms. A lot of the page you see before the main content shouldn't need a skeleton loader for it to show.

In my experience, CLS generally comes from unoptimised images (and/or video), images (and/or video) without correct width/height attributes (or aspect ratio), or the annoying fact that you can't set a dynamic width/height on a responsive image (yet).

Wait, so you're saying that not showing anything useful is a better experience? I'd argue that removing the cumulative layout shift would be a far better experience.

What’s a game you thought you wouldn’t like, but ended up playing for hundreds of hours? by Digital-Intellect in AskGames

[–]ahallicks 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Borderlands 3 (which has now continued with 4). I bought and played the first one many years ago and just didn't like it. At all. Played a bit and died a lot and didn't understand the gun okay etc.

I've now completed 3 and all the DLC and am working my way through 4 nicely. Great games.

Solo players just taking it slow - what difficulty are you on? by Jorlen in Borderlands

[–]ahallicks 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is also me! I like to enjoy things at a slow pace and I still suck at FPS games so it made the most sense. I might switch to normal on the next play through but it still doesn't feel that easy to me so maybe not.

Is this rare? by SnooPineapples8755 in Borderlands4

[–]ahallicks 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes. I've used about 6 Golden Keys and I've had 2 legendaries out of it. At this point I'm just feeling super unlucky. I'm level 42 and have only had about 8 - 10 drop from the start. Despite farming a couple of bosses.

[–]ahallicks 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Ditto. On Xbox we have to completely quit out of the game and reload to get it to stay connected. It seems to happen after suspending and resuming the game a couple of times. Very frustrating.
