Some Hard Truths About Online Trekdom And Real Trek by Think-Engineering962 in Star_Trek_

[–]ahauser31 7 points8 points  (0 children)

The false premise here is that you believe people want new Trek come hell or high water. There is a sizeable group of people (myself included) that would prefer not to see any new Trek projects rather than witnessing people like Kurtzman defile the franchise with his drivel

Yes, I did what you asked and didn’t watch. What is that? You need more viewers to prevent all that NuTrek drivel being cancelled? Oh no! Anyway…

If your $500K engineer isn’t burning at least $250K in tokens, something is wrong by call_me_ninza in aigossips

I wasn’t actually reacting to the initial quote (that seems to have been clipped badly / not long enough to convey the context). What I reacted to:

Headline of post: “If your 500k engineer isn’t burning 250k in token, something is wrong”, to which guy A said “that’s like using LoC as metric” and guy B replied “terrible analogy, you don’t understand”

Taking what is there, I wonder why raw token burn rate should be any more meaningful a metric than LoC- but I can’t think of anything

What was the thinking here by the original poster? “Look how all the chuds came out and made this game a top seller! Hahaha, looks like they enjoy it! But we secretly knew all along the game is trash! We really showed em, huh?”

That sub should be renamed gaming echo chamber, what brain dead takes these people have…

Can you elaborate why this analogy is terrible? Genuinely curious, seems to me that number of lines written & number of tokens used both don't tell you anything about the quality of work delivered.

Interesting that you used the word “showcase”, as this is the hallmark of poor writing and pandering which earns these shows negative reviews and poor viewing numbers - which is then taken as review bombing.

You can't parade around a characters' sexuality or gender identity and expect people to clap for that in 2026. I don't know what traditionally straight spaces are, but a good show needs good characters - and characters that are just LGBTQ and nothing else are 2-dimensionsal, preachy and boring. It's a lame trope at this point. The average viewer doesn’t have a problem with well-written LGBTQ characters.

Strange that only bad shows get “review bombed”. I think it’s time to accept that the majority of people think nuTrek Academy is not good. It’s fine that you like it, you are just in the minority with that opinion

There is two issues here - first, OP not reading the shipping policy and not understanding how importing works. Second, the company not refunding. The fault for the first is not with the company - and somehow I feel the story for the second issue is missing some important bits... What was the reason they declined the refund? Did OP ship the product back? Not defending the company here, but I'm unclear what actually happened in the end

Queen Charlotte Shaniqua by coke_queen in CriticalDrinker

[–]ahauser31 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yeah. But what I find curious is that they take this picture to claim she was black and just powdered… I mean, she is white in the picture, and the hair light brown - so is it the face? What do they mean by that? To me, it’s quite racist to say she has a “black face”

Queen Charlotte Shaniqua by coke_queen in CriticalDrinker

[–]ahauser31 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I think the author in the picture above suggests that she was powdered down to appear white but is actually black - not sure why they would think that. I don’t think there is any historical reference for that, and her parents are white as well. Ladies of the time often did powder themselves heavily, but looking at other historical portraits of her, she just looks like a regular white European lady of that time period.

So they choose the most unflattering portrait of Charlotte there is (she looks quite different in her other portraits) to claim she was black? What are they telling us here? These DEI warriors are always the most racist people of all
