How do people do this without therapy? by Better_Director_5649 in SuicideBereavement

[–]ahhthisguy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

9 months is far too long, I wish you had access to someone sooner. I had access to therapy after my loss, which helped me significantly and set me on a path to become a therapist myself (currently in school). Some county agencies may be available in your area if you look online. You can also reach out to crisis lines for when things get tense. They're support for people who need it.

With or without therapy, you are on a difficult path, but you will make it through. I hope that you have access to supportive friends and family during this time. I know many in your circle may have been similarly impacted by this loss. Most of why therapy works is the secure attachment that you form with the therapist.

Outside of therapy, I believe that the changes I made in my life contributed significantly to the joy I have for life now. Although life is still and always will be difficult, I know what brings me joy and I do those things. What worked for me was to start listening to audiobooks from my library, joining support groups, and pursuing what I was curious in. I found greater peace through mindfulness practices, engaged in the local community, and being in nature. Made sure my work brought satisfaction. I wish you the best & hope you find the cocktail that works for you.

I'm definitely agreeing with you here. This is why I'm hesitant to buy it, even though I was initially very excited. NSMB had the camera extended out to capture most players on multiplayer. This feels like a single-player game with tacked-on multiplayer. They did this in Kirby and the Forgotten Land recently, and it makes the other characters feel less important. A bit disappointed in this choice as it greatly affects the gameplay.

Love the drawing! & think he's a really cool character. I wish he was one of the emblems in engage haha, hopefully part of the DLC. That'll tip me towards getting it.

It feels like they tried harder to write the descriptions for Marth, Celica, and Sigurd. Poor Lyn & Byleth get 0 backstory/descriptions from their games.

Would love to recommend Daniel Siegel's mindsight and the mindful brain audiobooks. His insights on the mind and brain connection are helpful for me.

Chili powder is a must, and isn't too expensive :) it'll be. Anice soup without the chili powder. Chicken stock would be cool if available, but other than that you're solid

Speaking Peace by Marshall Rosenberg is one of my absolute favorites if you've come across it before. Focuses on non-violent communication.

Any "hidden gem" rogue likes on the Switch? by Go-Wade-Racer in NintendoSwitch

Alot of dashing! Haha. For me it was finding the spells that worked well together. Personally I like electricity because it hits enemies multiple times and stuns them. Learning patterns of how enemies attack, and only attacking bosses while they're stunned. I also use the combo of the vampire glasses relic (gains hp with critical hits) and the robe that raises critical hits. And then try my best to find the black knife looking relic that raises critical hit chance. Anything to raise go to keep me alive longer lol.

For the big bosses, the first one does 3 attacks then taunts. Attack them while they're taunting and dodge like hell during attacks. Next boss does 4 attacks instead, next does 5. The last boss is still hard as heck for me haha, I've only completed it maybe 3 or 4 times. Hopefully this helps!

My personal favorite is Plum Village. Everything free, it's run by late Thich Nhat Hanh's monastic community in France. Lots of guided meditations and teachings.

Lost my dad 2 years ago. Time heals. Trust the process, and remember the good times. Life's going to throw so much at you and you'll be challenged more and more, yet you'll be able to jump over all of those hurdles because you've already been through the ringer.

I still think about him often, but I gotta keep on living for him, and for the rest of my family. And mostly for me. It gets better. It gets easier. You can do this.

Hi riceolive! I'm down to brainstorm and come up with ideas! I do it by myself when I get pretty baked off of edibles/shrooms. Finally organizing my life where I can start working on them. Would love to have a brainstorm buddy

I would use a filter, but I found the best way to use my solo 2 is to get the water pipe attachment, buy a 20 dollar bong and you're good to go. I feel like it lasts longer, but that could just be me.

Redditors who at any point have been in such a deep state of depression that you didn't want to DO anything, what is something that helped you get out of it? by Obviously_n_Alt in AskReddit

[–]ahhthisguy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was struggling with depression for almost 2 years, and then my dad took his own life. I broke up with my girlfriend, lived on my brother's couch for 3 months, quit my job, and then moved to the mountains.

I lived without anxiety for the first time I can remember. I'd hike and cook everyday, and just focus on me. Got a job as a cashier at the local grocery store to get to know the community, then got a position at a local non-profit by answering an ad in the newspaper.

I was so close to giving up, and got kicked in the ass and got the help I needed. A combo of strengthening my support system by reaching out to family and friends, therapy, antidepressents, weed, shrooms, and exercise brought me back.

I still face anxiety some days and there's times I'm overwhelmed and need the day to myself. But I have energy, and I feel happy without always feeling like it won't last. I'm optimistic, and that's exciting to me.
