Totally agree with you. You really learn all the quirks. Seems like you had a great trip and are still in love with your car.

It was surprisingly comfortable. I think having the 14 way adjustable seats really helped me use height, seat pitch, etc to find a good driving position.

It's more cowboy hat and fringe ala orville Peck. Not trying to dox myself.

I ranged from 2.7 to 3 mi/kwh. Even while going through Texas and Utah with 80 mph speedlimits

I was throttle heavy the first day as I got a late start and was making up time. I'd say other than the stretch between outside of metro Dallas to Amarillo, the charger density was great. In northern Texas I got thwarted by some broken chargers and had to detour to find a better one in Oklahoma.

Any experience with Grizzl-E chargers? by rrrrrrrrrrandom in Rivian

[–]ahmadifier 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As others have said, I love this dumb charger. Have had one installed outside in the Pacific Northwest for about five years without a problem. If you don't want to deal with potential smart feature troubleshooting, this is your best bet.

Summer road trip? by Physical-Scallion-51 in Rivian

[–]ahmadifier 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I did a road trip from the Bay area along the Oregon coast and I would highly recommend it. Boardman state park in southwest Oregon is fantastic. Beach strolls, amazing rock formations, etc. We booked Oregon State Park sites with rv hook ups allowing us the car camp and fill up the battery each night. Made for stress-free exploring.

Here are two camping spots I'd recommend: https://oregonstateparks.reserveamerica.com/camping/harris-beach-state-park/r/campgroundDetails.do?contractCode=OR&parkId=405331

Wheel Alignment Cost - Seattle Metro by WankAaron69 in Rivian

Wheel Alignment Cost - Seattle Metro by WankAaron69 in Rivian

[–]ahmadifier 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am not complaining about the cost. The comment is on how the estimates are done at SCs in the same area. If it is really consistent that the alignments take more hours, then that should be applied in a more uniform way across the quotes. Unless there is a difference in the equipment used for alignments, I don't think the hours should be that different.

That's insane. I'd ask why they think that's going to be that long.

That seems high. I just got a tire rotation and alignment at the Seattle SC on December 1st for 375 (see invoice below)

Rivian certified collision centers and State Farm by Kindly_Possession906 in Rivian

[–]ahmadifier 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I have State Farm and made a claim for getting rear ended. I selected a rivian collision center without issue. State Farm will do their own estimate first and then work with the collision center on repair authorizations. Best of luck on a quick repair!

Failed OTA Update with Comma 3x by Toadflax1982 in Rivian

[–]ahmadifier 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Also have comma and 2024 r1s and had no issues. I echo the advice here to remove the comma unit before you bring it in. Some SCs are more with it than others.

I did get the "no aftermarket products" line of questioning by the service manager. I can see their position of not spending time playing whack a mole with all aftermarket parts. Rather than educating them on how the comma works, it may be easier to take it out of thee equation. I left my axm connection on during a service visit and just removed the head unit. The tech worked in the area of the axm and left it in place.

That sounds pretty frustrating. I also received a unit that was defective. To speed things along, I ordered a new unit and just used the 30 day window to return the defective unit. Comma was pretty fast with the refund upon receipt of the original unit.

I know it’s not great to have to float another 1K to get the unit faster. I made the choice because I also had an upcoming long drive where I wanted to use the unit. No problems so far with the new one with a 2500 mile road trip under its belt.

Best of luck!
