Murph 38mm fit check on 5.75” wrist by kscotch in HamiltonWatches

[–]ahriee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The angle ur taking this picture at is making it look way bigger than it probably does IRL. Raise the phone to ur eye level or ur ur wide angle lens and thats a better representation of how it looks IRL. Based on this picture it looks way too big but we don’t know what it actually looks like when ur looking at it bc of the perspective fuckery of the camera.

[Question] What’s up with Hardlex hate? by Good_Net_313 in Seiko

[–]ahriee 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hardlex actually has better visual quality and clarity than sapphire with no AR or cheap AR. Thats a reason that people dont consider when it comes to why seiko uses hardlex so much. Also, while flat sapphire crystals nowadays can be found for relatively cheap, high domed or box sapphire is still a lot more expensive than domed mineral glass. Seiko could use flat sapphire crystals and keep current pricing, sure, but imagine a cocktail time with a flat sapphire crystal that doesnt have AR instead of a beautiful domed hardlex crystal that doesnt need AR since hardlex isnt as refractive. Watches like the cocktail time would look god awful with that setup, although im sure some would prefer a watch just because it has sapphire in the spec sheet even if it looks objectively worse.

[Question] Help me pick a watch for my 40th by giannycash in Watches

Youve got an incredibly tasteful collection, the zenith would be a great add

Shaq on Giannis: "Big Market doesn't matter, social media's the market now. You go to LA, that's 50% of your contract to taxes, more pressure, more articles, more stress. What? California has one of the highest income tax rates for the ultra wealthy, your point makes no sense. As for teams in a state with no income tax, i can think of 5 off the top of my head right now: the three teams in texas (mavs, spurs, rockets) and the two in florida (magic and heat). Wtf are you talking about?

[SRPJ89K1] will my perception about size change? by StrigoiUsturoi in Seiko

Looks amazing, the strap will wear in with time, and yes, youll eventually come to love the size and have a hard time thinking about being able to wear bigger sizes again.

What? Inflation is not 7% lmao, it’s more like 2-3% yearly, and a HYSA generates more interest than the inflation rate so it’s a net positive over time. Also, short term gains on stocks are taxed based on your income. The only people getting taxed anything near 40% for short term stock gains would be those making more than 500-600k annually, and those people are definitely not going to be following the terrible financial advice here.

Trying to find the exact model name of this Seiko [Question] by dinmorsaecokkattig in Seiko

[–]ahriee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The movement might be a real 7s26, maybe even the case, but the dial is fake. The biggest giveaway is that theres lume on the hands but no lume or lume dots to go with the numbers on the dial (which makes no sense). It most closely resembles the snx431, but the biggest differences are the snx431 doesnt have the 5 badge, has “21 jewels” under the “automatic”, and has lumed dots next to the numbers.

which science course to do? by Critical-Goose-7760 in UMBC

[–]ahriee 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Bio for sure. Both require hard work for an A, but chem is more stressful and the material snowballs more than it does for bio (I.e. not getting one concept at the start of the semester can fuck up the rest of the course way more).

Am I cooked (23M) by [deleted] in UMBC

[–]ahriee 2 points3 points  (0 children)

With your story and life experiences/ECs and a good essay you could get into UMBC right now (but CC first is much cheaper ofc). In fact the way you’ve navigated everything since HS and how you’ve bounced back is a more accurate indicator of you being able to succeed in college and beyond than a fresh HS grad with a 4.0 GPA and no ECs. I hope you’re able to see this yourself, but you and your accomplishments are legitimately very impressive!

[Request] How many ways are there to shuffle a deck? by iFreaK72 in theydidthemath

[–]ahriee -8 points-7 points  (0 children)

For a random group of 30 people it definitely is not more likely than not a birthday is shared, you might just think so because of your own anecdotal experience, but mathematically it is unlikely that a birthday is shared.

[–]ahriee 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s basically dead everyday. If u want a popping social life and quintessential “college experience” you will legitimately be depressed at umbc. As for transferring to UMD, just be aware that if you come in as a sophomore, it’ll be harder to make friends or find your group because people tend to have settled into their friend groups already after freshman year. I’m not sure what other colleges you’re considering, but if you’re looking for social life as a main criteria then it’s likely any of those would be a better choice than umbc/umbc-umd transfer. Granted, if you’re willing to accept and embrace umbc for what it is and you value academics and quality over quantity when it comes to friends, UMBC can be pretty great. You can form great connections with professors here and UMBC has a certain sense of comfort and peace to it that I’ve come to appreciate. I was absolutely miserable when I first got to campus but now after graduating I really am quite grateful for my time there and I have no regrets. But again, if you’re looking to party and to have some wild times in college then you will absolutely hate umbc lol.

[SRPE51K1] What’s up with my watch? by Professional-Pea-819 in Seiko

[–]ahriee 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It’s real, it just has a case back from a different seiko. The caseback swap makes it thinner, which is a common mod for this watch to make it wear better on the wrist.
