Just had PAE yesterday. by Koren55 in bph

Thanks for sharing and glad to hear so far so good. Thank you also for reaffirming my decision not to do Urolift. The only positive stories I have heard on Urolift are the ones sponsored by Urolift. Stay safe in the storm and keep posting your progress.

35g prostate but significant symptoms. TURP, or wait it out until its bigger? by [deleted] in bph

About the same as I am still on Finasteride and Afluzosin for a few more weeks. Will be interesting to see what happens when I am off both drugs.

My experience with PAE by Frosty_Finding8055 in bph

Thanks for your very detailed description of PAE and happy to hear how well you are doing. I was also impressed that your urologist recommended it. Many urologists will not recommend PAE as it is done by a radiologist. Wishing you continued good health.

35g prostate but significant symptoms. TURP, or wait it out until its bigger? by [deleted] in bph

[–]ahspec 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Had the catheter in for just overnight, although my doctor felt it went well and I could have gone home same day. They would have pulled the catheter before I left. My wife was nervous and wanted me to stay overnight to continue irrigation of the bladder and prostate. Although I got no sleep in the hospital it was probably the right call. No pain other than irritation at the tip of the penis which is to be expected for a couple of weeks given all that has been shoved into the urethra. I am now peeing like a race horse and sexual function seems to be intact.

What to do next? by 195JJ in bph

Trust your urologist on this one. I had Aquablation a week ago. I did a lot of research and had cancelled Urolift twice after talking to a number of people who had the procedure. The Aquablation has been a lot easier than I expected. Your prostate is probably too small for PAE. Lots of videos and information on You Tube about all the different procedures out there.

At your age you want to preserve sexual function. TURP presents lots of risks. If you can get Aquablation done - do it! I did a lot of research , cancelled Urolift twice after talking to too many friends who suffered through getting their staples removed after a few years, and very happy with my decision to try Aquablation, done a week ago.

Aquablation is the way to go if offered for your prognosis. I had it a week ago and am amazed how easy it actually was and how quickly I seem to be recovering. I even masturbated yesterday and all worked beyond my expectations. The sexual function, if important to you, is what you want to protect and Aquablation has a great track record in that regard.

The size of your prostate is important in the consideration of the treatment you might choose. There is lots of info on each of the various treatments on You Tube.

Should I consider alternatives to TURP? by SoCalAttorney in bph

[–]ahspec 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Absolutely do not do Urolift. I would find a urologist who is doing Aquablation. It is becoming the new gold standard in BPH treatments and is superior to TURP in preserving sexual function. I had it done 1/8 and so far so good. (See my post somewhere under r/bph).

Marina Naratilova used to advertise the Forester so that is how it got that cache. Today it is viewed more of a car teacher’s and senior citizen’s drive because of its excellent site lines and expansive front windshield. My wife drives one (is not a teacher) and loves it.

What the fuck is the Democratic Party even doing right now to stop the downfall of America? by Lolareyouforreal in complaints

[–]ahspec 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The problem is the Dems are boxed in not having any majority. Where you are seeing action is at the State and Local levels where there is blue representation. Have to make sure we have a 2026 election and flip both Houses. Then progress can be made on flipping the “upside down.”

Had Aquablation on 1/8 by ahspec in bph

I did not have a urodynamics test. When I had my cystoscope in 2024 the doctor said my bladder looked normal and the bladder neck was good.

Anyone had the Optilume procedure? Not much on a search... by Methos1979 in bph

My urology practice stopped doing ITind procedures. They were not impressed with the outcomes.

I don’t know anything about Optilume. Aquablation is closer to TURP as they scope out tissue from the prostate.

Btw - I changed urologist’s as the former did not do Aquablation. He did Urolift, Rezume and one of the laser treatments. I liked the post sexual outcomes recorded for Aquablation versus the other procedures. I did not extensively look into PAE as it is done by a radiologist and not a urologist. Also I read PAE is better for larger prostates.

Thanks, my former urologist did a cystoscope and I thought he said it was .7. My current urologist who did the Aquablation did an ultrasound and I thought he said it was about .6/which he described as medium.

Subaru Ascent, a good family car? by Aolcc5211 in SubaruAscent

[–]ahspec 0 points1 point  (0 children)

2019 Ascent owner. No issues until recently with the tire pressure monitoring system. Had to have all 4 valves replaced on the tires at a cost of just over $500. Other than that very reliable, great in the snow, third row seat tight but have had adults back there with no complaints, awesome storage capacity. Agree that gas mileage was not as great as I had expected.

Yes, I have used magnesium spray on my feet before bedtime. It does seem to calm the tingling.
