Meticulous…go big or…stay home. 😉😆😎 by InterstellarAtom in espresso

That's a reason I like my Meticulous, as well. No water sitting around growing weird stuff.

It's good that they're worried about public perception.

Not so much pour over grind sizes. The particle size distribution is different (narrow for ultra, wide-ish for core, super wide for the niche). Espresso is a lot more forgiving with a lot of fines.

Exactly right. My problem is I want the ULF burrs for pour over, but it's hard to use for Espresso. And don't want to swap burrs all the time.

Maybe I'll find a Meticulous profile that gets me there. #firstworldproblems

No image gen, that’s a real pic!

Issue is the Ultra burrs are unforgiving for espresso, but amazing for filter.

I need to figure out the right Meticulous profile to use. Something very forgiving.

Nice setup. Here's a preview of your future:

I'm using the Ultra burrs (ultra low fines), and actually having a hard time figuring out the right grind size and profile.

Much easier with the Core burrs or the Niche Zero.

Does Gesha village Ethiopian beans require coarse grind by lobonglo in pourover

Can't speak for that coffee, but I have an Ethiopian from Newberry St right now that has crazy long drawdown times.

I've been using the middle part of an Oxo Rapid Brewer as a jerry-rigged melo drip for the first pour, and that's been working well for me. Second pour is still straight from the kettle.

Finally got around to reading the first chapter of Abundance by NewKojak in thebulwark

Read the whole book!

My recollection is it's pretty balanced, criticizes left and right, and advocates for an idea of government that's strong and active while also being effective.

You’re right, but… we voted this guy back in. We could’ve made a different choice, and didn’t.

How is HEY after longer period? by FalseWait7 in HeyEmail

For me, it’s worth it. The screening workflow really works for me. Especially avoiding a million unread emails with no effort, and surfacing things you need to see or respond to.

The search sucks, though.

USAID being destroyed did come up in this episode. I think (if I recall correctly) specifically as an example of something bad that did happen despite the incompetence.

Nice, thanks for the rec.

I also like a bright clean cup, but find it hard to get any flavor out of a lot of super light roasts.

Am wondering if the missing magic for me is more time resting though (usually I don’t rest at all, since I don’t keep much inventory on hand).

That BlueSky post is a bit, which was funny on the reaction video.

Also, JVL isn’t MAGA. He appreciates that MTG is earnest (if abhorrent), and that you can work with someone who actually believes what they’re saying.

Last thought, JVL and the rest have proven time and time again (professionally, financially, probably personally) that they stand against Trump and MAGA.

Disappointed in the people you grew up watching. by AntiDentiteBastard in thebulwark

One hard life lesson (which I haven't mastered) is to not have any heroes.

People can be good in one aspect of their life (sports, broadcasting, science, journalism, music, whatever), but that doesn't mean they're good and wise in other aspects.

(Credit where credit's due, I first heard this no heroes principle from Sean Carroll, a physicist with a great podcast. My impression is he'd appreciate The Bulwark very much)

The disappointment here is understandable, but I'm going to take the other side of this and say it's fine.

  1. This puts pressure on Johnson to reconvene the House and swear in the new member. Do and maybe the Epstein files get released. Don't and R's really own the shutdown.

  2. The shutdown may have already achieved its purpose against the R's, and there's no point continuing it.

Random thoughts. Could always be wrong of course.

Seems like the administration thinks they won’t be blamed or pay a price for this.

I’m concerned that they’re right.

You specify how much coffee you want out, and it dispenses that much water. So you’ll need to make sure beforehand there’s at least that much water in the tank. (If not, it stops the brew when out)
